It's a shame they didn't kept the landing craft and the 19m dive tender. The latter is something else.
Thanks for merging the thread @YachtForums I’d like to copy some of my post to this thread. Octopus is for sale, and I think this is the most underrated yacht here on YF. She has features not even found a newly launched megayachts, she is 16 years old was lightyears ahead of her time.Shockingly She doesn't generate much of a conversation here but I would please ask @YachtForums to move this to Lurssen or general discussion thread as it clearly doesn't belong here. By the way there is a great article about Octopus on drive and I would love for everyone to check it out. If I was Bill Gates I would buy this at asking price out of respect to my late friend. What a vessel.
I agree with what you said. It's a shame she doesn't get more attention and I think she honestly should because this vessel is amazing still to this day. Maybe Mr. Gates will that would be pretty cool if he goes on to continue what Allen has done with Octopus. He has been on others like Serene we shall see.
She used to get more attention back when she was launched and on two older forum venues. She’s one of my favorites and part of the reason in recent years that she hasn’t received a ton of attention is that she’s not in the typical places where most see yachts as she is exploring the world. With her being for sale and now back in the Med, you can see the significant amount of attention she is getting.
She is outside Cap Antibes on the hook and only in the Med for her appearance on the MYS 2019. Octopus is on display by several brokers during the yacht show, most likely outside Port Hercules on anker. There are not very many "parking lots" during the MYS for such big boats and the most favorite slot is booked for the Luerssen yacht Amadea, which is on display by Luerssen and Imperial Yachts. Lets hope that Stuart Larsen will be able to separate chaff from wheat with all those appoinment requests, otherwise it will be very crowed on Octopus during the show. Will try to smuggle my camera onto the boat during my visit, promised .
Hahaha be careful doing that last part. However I am curious to know about the changes made during the latest refit.
They're still not high enough resolution to see the details, but I was able to get "better" versions by: - click on the thumbnail to view it - on my screen the picture's stretched and cut off - right click and pick "Open image in new tab" (this is in Chrome) - in the new tab that opens, the picture file is named: medium_2683464.jpg - change the "medium_" in the address to "large_" leaving the rest of the URL as it is. That got me images that were 540x900 pixels, better than the original links, but still not great.
There's a new Octopus video: I don't think the interior was updated during the last refit, looks similar to the pictures available on Luerssen's page.
That is an awesome video! Thanks for sharing! I've always like Octopus and this video just shows how awesome this vessel really is.
Many seem to have forgotten the anniversary of Paul's passing this month a few days ago, the 15th of October I think it was.
Still for sale as far as I know, Bill Gates won’t do the right thing and buy her to keep his partners legacy going...
I originally thought it would continue with the PGA Family Foundation or Vulcan, but I guess with all the latest and greatest gear installed on R/V Petrel that leaves Octopus as a less desirable asset. Sad.
