Thanks Techmati, nice job as always. :)

The Yamaha sterndrive is a bit of a surprise (post #39). Any more info or links on that?

Baja, Donzi, and Fountain all offer fast fishing models. In addition to their usual racy styles.

Nice tour William! Thank you for sharing. :)

The Yamaha I/O was quite a surprise, mostly because I/O sales have fallen over the past few years with the advent of high pressure injection outboards. If the new drives are compatible with existing Mercruiser installations, they may find a good replacement market. Still, I'm surprised to see Yamaha enter this segment, especially with the rapid acceptance of Volvo's IPS Pod-Drive system by boat builders.

True for fishing boats. But not for the bowrider/cruiser pleasure boat market. Which sells about a zillion units. I would say that market is ripe for another brand, especially if they find a gas block that is not GM ;) . However, I expect Yamaha would end up taking a bigger bite out of Volvo than Merc. As half of the Merc market is captive with all the Brunswick boat brands.
