One day they should name some of these nice-looking ships of theirs He Who Fights Monsters. Would probably save a ton of forum flames
If the world recognized that...and cared it would mean an end to war of any type. I'm not optimistic.
Right. Costs nothing to hope, tho. The concept is not all that impossible to grasp Someday, someday...
hypocrisy I think this thread is about hypocrisy, sustainability, seamanship..and combination thereof. What i dont understand is the love affair with Dolphins...there are Hollywood starlets, businessmen, entire industries that will proclaim their love of Dolphin, on a can of tuna. Heaven forbid the supermarket ever runs out of Tuna, for in that day will come the great and terrible wrath of Dolphin lovers. Tuna / shark / insert here, are being depleted at incredible rates for whatever reasons, but certain species are just not touchable by the marketing machine. Maybe There should be a TV show where Charlie the Tuna saves lives and has daily interaction with Floridians, then there will be parity in the Oceans. As far as Sea Shepards...they shed light on things most people don't want to know about and its uncomfortable, same old.
I think that most people understand at a basic level that consumption is necessary, but that we should start at the lowest forms of life possible and not waste. As people become more powerful though gluttony and wastefulness are a natural way to showcase that power. Of course that often lead to their own downfall. As for why one species is protected beyond the natural selection process (lowest first) and another is not, being cute helps. I know from experience. If I weren't cute my wife would have killed me in my sleep and ate me for breakfast long ago.
