Reading that got me wondering what the smallest boat to do a circumnavigation was. Here is what I found.

There's some people working on an 8 foot challenger to the Acrohc. I'm looking for the site (saw it a couple of years ago) but haven't had any luck yet.

Yep, that looks like the one. I remember seeing sketches at one point too. It basically looked like one of those "Around in Ten" boats, if I remember correctly. After all, in a footprint that small there isn't all that much leeway in shape or design.

Sorry no one. In a real freak storm I don't want to be in any of these toys.

Okay. So after fifteen minutes of thinking, what did the surveyor say - and what did you go for in the end?

I know one thing. I wouldn't mind being out there in a 76' Northern Marine.....

Most the Deadliest Catch boats are plus 75' but there is one "Tradition" that is about 60'.
Any of these would do it for me, including their Captains.

If I had to choose from your list....they are all on the same level approx, so as far as handling a "freak storm" it would come down to who is in charge, because these boats are built for speed/style/pleasure, not for big seas.

If it took the surveyor 15 minutes to tell you that I would suggest you get another surveyor. :D

Unless you plan to stay at the dock... in seas of more than 2 feet, avoid a Ferretti! In a head sea, it will beat you silly. In a hard on the bow sea, it will beat you silly. In a beam sea, it will roll your socks off. Don't even ask about a quartering sea! And the fly-by-wire steering, on the newer models, is an accident waiting to happen.

Anything that was built at the Outer Banks of N.C. Other than that, a trawler. Marlow or Fleming.

I agree with what has been mentioned already, all these brands offer excellent quality they all have their pros and cons but at the end of the day, since all of them pretty much offer what you'd expect from 75 footer, is a matter of what you like.

That been said, the really important thing to consider is that if you really want to take a 75' "look at me, near to the cost preferably Yacht" offshore, these are expensive and pleasurable toys not serious contenders against rough seas.

Anyway i would choose Sunsekeer if you are going to die do it with style.

I've seen the Beneteau Swift that has windows like you speak of; I thought it was a cool idea for the master suite, but wondered about sea worthiness.

What are your thoughts on the Selene 47 footer for long range sea worthiness. They have a 330 hP single Cummins.
