I was trying to say that exact thing but every time I started typing I sounded rude and inflexible. But Engineering of a vessel has to be made a priority and owners should never skimp on surveyor’s or good engineers at least capt/eng. Or take the advice of ill informed friends or brokers. (no offence but they are integral to the sale not the safety) Well said.
Ken, THANK YOU! Mardi Gras will be quite different this year, much smaller for sure. I ride in Endymion, one of the larger parades and I am looking forward to seeing the crowd turnout "post Katrina". I figured that there was something wrong with that boat when it didn't sell quickly. I had not even heard of Trident before that day. The gentleman that I toured the boat with in 2004 decided to keep his yacht and actually ended up having his designer tour Full Bloom at a later date to view the gorgeous interior. He is currently in the process of refitting his aluminum yacht and is seriously considering a new mahogany interior similar to Full Bloom's. That staircase is "floating" now more than ever........
Yar, sure glad I wasn't on her Wow, Im sure glad that I wasn't on her. Does anyone have anymore pics or a source of where to get pictures? ThirdHatt, what did you make of the accordion walls in the dinning room?
Regulator, Those accordion walls are actually a variety of MDF(?) board, designed for incredible sound absorption. She was supposedly amazingly quiet while underway. The look was a little different and the mustard color was going to need to be changed, but assumedly the sound deadening effect was well worth the design from what the Captain told us. What did you think of the ultra-high gloss mahogany interior, specifically those flame mahogany entertainment centers? We were quite impressed. It was really the floorplan that killed that boat for the buyer that I was with, but the woodwork was impressive enough to make the decision to refit his current yacht's interior to look like that.
Ahh the according walls now make sense! Whatever they constructed the entertainment centers out of was very interesting. The super gloss Mahogany defenitly looked great, espeacily at the bottom of the stairs leading to the sky lounge. I just never understood why such nice woodwork and paneling would get broken up with the according style walls. I guess the owner took a technical suggestion from the right people for sound surpresion. However mabey they should have focused on keeping it afloat ! ( Low blow )
I was just looking at the thread "2005 FLIBS - After The Show" and ran across a picture of Full Bloom... when she was rightside-up. Thought I would post the link for those who were not familiar with her... http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/19271-post41.html
That rear half is definitely "different". It seemed to have a lot of interior space for that size of a boat though. Anyone know of any other problems similar to this with other Tridents?
