    Hi,
Just saw this on Cargo Law:

Yacht Wild Goose suffered exhaust stack fire off New Port Beach, California, on Oct. 12. The vessel was safely returned to dock where passengers were evacuated and firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. The vessel is operated by Hornblower Cruises and Events. It was once a 1942 minesweeper which John Wayne bought in 1965.

Nice to hear that they didn't loose that part of History. The story goes that Big John, unfortunately didn't get to use his yacht all that much due to illness.

IMO, that's one of the best videos I've seen on the net. I was saddened to hear that 6 of the original 12 men passed away over the 15 year restoration process. Let's hope they're looking down and smiling.

    Thanks for the link, Loren.

Here's a link to a company that uses the converted mine sweeper Liseron for eco tourism in SE Alaska. They used to have a smaller coastal sweeper they wore out and sold to a competitor that operates it as the Sea Wolf.

A few years ago the company needed another boat and purchased a "stock" ocean going minesweeper but found the hull was not sound enough for conversion. They removed all the machinery and transferred it to the replica aluminum hulled "Mist Cove." It is a fascinating and after some serious revisions, successful version of a classic boat, down to the stainless steel Cleveland engines and bronze windlass.

    Hi,

You might want to check your facts and figures there Fishy.

She was launched in 1973 but not by B and V.

Lone Ranger was built by Schichau Unterwasser AG in Bremerhaven and converted by Claus Kusch at Malta Drydocks, Same story as with Arctic P.
  12. ... and recently refitted at Peterswerft at Wewelsfleth near Hamburg, sold after more than 2 years stopped there, where she left to La Palma, but as I know she was never at B+V here. Her sister also, those Tugs convertion.

    MKM,

As I tried to explain to you previously the change of flag did not indicate a sale in the true sense of the word. It still belongs to the same beneficial owners as it did when it went up there for a touchup.

Do your contacts there who supposedly know more than the vessels managers happen to tell you what has become of the old white relic on the Stbd Side?
  15. 1. I used the word 'sold' to simplify a long history, it does not matter in this thread. Just to say, she 'finally sailed away'. If the owners are the same or not, I don't care, the vessel still exists as 'almost the same' she 'was/is'. Hope explained your concerns.

:p 2. The white Relic of my own picture taken on last Summer is still the same. It was what to be supposed an yacht. Do you want to buy her and finish? She is since 'centuries' there, probably you will find her there the same. Of course has water inside, but you know, do not deserve an effort imo! Portside is turned. Bridge is inside picture. Maybe because seems grounded with Lone Ranger moored together that time. But she is floating 'normally'. The Hull is half done, needs only to be complete. Maybe the Price is good like the others were, when went into bankruptcy .... I can't afford.

Has anyone seen "Di Martini" out of the Long Beach CA? It belongs to the owner of Marina Ship Yard. Beautiful example of an old to new ship. Old wooden planked Navy vessel. He actually owns two as I understand. One is original condition and the other is the one I previously mentioned. I had photos, but can't seem to located them now.

You can go onto Face book and search The Wild Goose. It has pictures of John Waynes old yacht through all its phases of conversion.

"Lone Ranger" is presently for sale, asking 20 million dollars. She was built in '73?
