J jumps the line and comes in with the name and pedigree. Moonraker is one of the many yachts whose owner names his rides after James Bond movies. Many of these yachts have sleek, swept back styling, where Moonraker and Octopussy have some similar lines. I think Octopussy still has a dark blue finish.

Even I was able to figure it out...

... because the name is right on the radar!

Like everyone else, I've been enjoying the pre-show here immensely (but didn't want to post just to say that.)

Ha-ha. Ward, sometimes things are so obvious you don't see them. Good catch. Glad you are enjoying the coverage.

Awesome pics CaptTom, proof positive that Heineken is always on top!!

I can hardly wait to hear more about Percherhron, the Darwin Class 86' by Cantiere delle Marche which looks to be one serious world class explorer yacht ready to take on the world!

Yes, I'm interested to see what sort of build quality is on the Darwin, a nice package for long range cruising.

Thanks to Tom and Disco for all the photos, we know it hasn't been a "breeze". :)

I think there was a video with her in less-than-ideal weather...handling it in stride.

Yes, I think I have seen the one you are talking about! She rides the wild surf with the best of them!

I hope to see her on Monday when I go to the show!!

I'm happy to report that Saturday at FLIBS was clear skies, sunshine, a little breezy but tons of folks on the docks and in the tents, which by the way are all open and operational.
But it wasn't that way Thursday night. If you want to see some video snipets of the howling wind, creaking tent frames and tattered siding, click here (it's okay, got approval):

Spent the day at the show and it was simply awesome (and packed)! Enjoyed yesterday too.... due to the lower foot traffic and easier access, but the weather was a bit trying at times.

Clear skies tonight, but the wind is persistent and they have closed a section of A1A due to the surf and surge flooding the Eastern lane.

    Ask and you shall receive!!

I bumped into CaptTom, who had sunburned teeth from smiling too much, who has been so busy snapping he has not had time to post so more to come!!!!!!!!

Getting to the boat show today was so much fun!

First the Sunrise Blvd Bridge over the Intracoastal was closed to traffic so make the first legal U-Turn and snake your way through Victoria Park and try Las Olas Blvd which was thankfully open to traffic.

    Well sort of!!!

    Gee thanks good buddy!

    Flooded (2).JPG

I hadn't even made it through the VIP parking lot before I had to stop and take my first "Official Show" photograph. This Fisker glistening in the sun really caught my eye!

    Flooded (3).JPG

So far one of the most iconic images of this year's show that has appeared in the media is the tail of this yacht with her bird, and why not, what self respecting yacht owner sails without a bird on her back???!!!!!

    Flooded (4).JPG

I don't care what the insurance company says, this looks like way too much fun to pass up!!

    Yee Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!

    Ft. Lauderdale show (Saturday)

Hey everyone, the show was great and the weather was spectacular, at least on Saturday.

Walking to the Show, this was just off of Las Olas, what a great way to start the morning!

Las Olas Blvd. Bridge (Looking South)

MTU 16V2000's in the 881 RPH Ferretti

Starboard view of "Diamonds are Forever," she definitely had a prime spot. I've heard rumors that she sold.

Stern view of M/Y "Copasetic" I passed her in NY Harbor back in August, and was abuzz with people

Maybe it has something to do with my fascination with blue hulled yachts, or maybe it has something to do with her curves, but for some reason every time I see Bread she just keeps looking better and better!

    Pass the butter please!!

    bread.JPG

Well if it was December instead of October and at a yacht show I could think I was looking at the sugar plumb faeries dancing across the Intracoastal instead of James Bond in his Thunderball jetpackl!!

    funpack (1).JPG

Except, uh oh, I must be seeing double!

    funpack (2).JPG

Yikes, now I am seeing triple!!

    funpack (4).JPG

Uh, oh, now I am seeing double again!!!

    funpack (3).JPG

Well, I think I'm seeing triple again, so I guess it is time to lay off the Christmas, eggnog!!!

But its October in Fort Lauderdale and it is FLIBS......................

My attraction to blue hulled yachts drew my eye to this beauty and then I could not help but notice the number of antennae on her hard top.

    antenna (1).JPG

I was going to Montana soon to become a dental floss tycoon but I think I will stay here and raise antenna instead!!!

    antenna (2).JPG

I don't think I have ever seen such a big bulbous bulb bow on a yacht before; especially one crying out quite so loudly for a manicure!

    bulb.JPG

When I saw this yellow hulled sport fisherman I immediately thought tuna, reel'em in!!!

    flag (2).JPG

In an earlier post kkreichker1 mentioned that he likes nothing better than to see a yacht bearing the American flag; no one could agree with you more so this one is for you!!!

HA-HA! Dave you are funny. Sorry for slacking on the photos, but I do have a job to get done, as well shoot for YF, get the night shots including those of the Delta 54 (coming soon Lars), attend parties (rough life) and other things. My feet hurt after a long 6-day stretch but it's part of the gig.
And yes, they did shoot fireworks off the roof of the Bahia Mar Doubletree Hotel. I thought it would be cool to get a few yachts in the pics, so hoofed it to the other side of the ICW for the vantage point.
More to come (need sleep first).
