    Yes, I can attest to this. Trying to pick-up a BW 13' in a heavy swell, the crane hook missed the lifting ring and snagged the steering wheel.

    PING!

    Off came the outer rim of the wheel, just the spokes were sticking out of the helm. Having to explain to the Skipper how this happened at 3am and the fact that there were Red Stripe bottles and a bikini still in the boat, made for a very interesting morning meeting. :rolleyes:

    I managed to repair the steering rim with a lot of heat and a rubber hammer. It was never the same again, though.

    If the OP is built as am I, it would surely be helpful if he were not in the tender during launch or retrieval.
