For some years now one of the trends in motor megayachts is to have windows on the main deck, and very close to the bow. Mostly for the owners suite I think. Great views, but large waves can put enormous pressure on such vertical large pieces of glass. (Venus's sliding glass doors are located more to the rear than the glass windows that I mentioned, partly because of her design, partly because of her size I think) Superyachts tend to stay close to the shore and well clear of storms, and seldom cross an ocean, but I think Venus is probably less risky than many other designs...
A couple photos... Venus - ShipSpotting.com - Ship Photos and Ship Tracker Venus - ShipSpotting.com - Ship Photos and Ship Tracker Venus - ShipSpotting.com - Ship Photos and Ship Tracker I'm really starting to like her more and more. I'm just surprised that this is something that Feadship has made since they seem to have an overall style that has just recently been starting to break.
Yea she is actually sort of growing on me. She still looks odd though I wonder what kind of mast she will have, if any. A good looking mast would make her look pretty good.
To me, it just looks awkward and clunky, pretty much like a big white brick. I don't mind the deckhouse, but the proportions of the hull are too boxy for my liking.
My opinion really doesn't matter. I have always been from the school of thought you can build what you want. But in my opinion thumbs down.
Venus Extraordinary yacht. Unconventional but so refreshing. A modernist villa on water. Polarising and controversial but a future yachting icon for certain. It was a feast for the eyes when the tugs brought her outside.
I think Venus is the largest yacht built in aluminium in Holland. Does anyone know of other aluminium yachts that are bigger?
If she starts sailing around the Med or Caribbean (Not sure if Venus will head in those directions once delivered..) she will get as much attention as "A". Venus is smaller but has a much more famous personality behind her. That combination is a media magnet. Will be the most photographed and filmed yacht of 2013 I think The longer I look at her, the more I realize this is the only way she could have been built considering her visionary owner and her minimalistic designer. All they needed was a suitable builder and time...
At FLIBS today I stopped by the Feadship display where almost immeadiately a very nice person asked if they could answer any questions so I of course I said I had seen pictures of the Apple yacht and was wondering if the bow windows were faux or the real deal. Of course he said he could not comment on a customer's yacht but since we were standing next to this year's concept yacht model he pointed out that the wrap around bow windows had been engineered and should be appearing in a production yacht shortly......................... We went on to chat about how "super cool" a beam to beam room in the bow of a yacht would be to experience, yada, yada, yada!!! Sort of like the iconic bow scene in Titanic except indoors with cocktails and canapes! So yes, Feadship has once again taken the dream of a customer and turned it into in this case, a quite fantastic reality that is the cat's meow!!!
Apple Yacht Since Jobs was responsible for the I-Pad, the I-Mac and the I-Pad, I think his new yacht should have been named the I-Sore. It is one homely boat.
It's just a really interesting yacht. undersirable in some areas yet very intriguing in others even good looking in other areas. I just would like to know what the mast looks like or will look like. Does or will she have a mast at all, well she will need some kind of mast since she is a 78-meter yacht.
Just my humble opinion, but the bow does indeed look cool and I would love to see what the bow "room" views look like....the side views are also sort of cool, but I am sorry, the stern is butt ugly (no pun intended).....I love the references to Apple Stores, so I wonder if the crew will be former Apple Store employees? Cheers,
I read that the former project Aqua was christened Venus on Sunday when she floated out of the building hall for completing; so it sounds like there is still some work to be done.
