Thanks for the great shots, perhaps the best close up detail photos we have seen yet. Even the detail of her stern entrance is simple and elegant.
Perhaps they stick a bit out the hole, grab it with a boat hook from the deck or one of the stern doors, and then toss it to the dock? A bit cumbersome but the end result is beautiful. I would be more concerned about the bow lines rubbing on the edge of the hull if I am seeing things correctly in post 237.
G990120, nice pics, thanks for taking and posting them. I suppose the interior stairs we seeing through the opened shell-door is the stairs that goes up to the aft main deck in that area that they have wrapped in the white tarp all the time, that was initially mistakened for a jacuzzi but a few members
Disco, It looks like if the stern garage door is dropped it will snap the port side line. I thought maybe the lines are attached to a boom of some kind and then grabbed by a deckhand somehow.
AIS link: Daily Vessel's Itineraries - AIS Marine Traffic Her Latitude / Longitude seem to be steady, as she goes.
Normally it's data is updated every 10 minutes and now its been more then a day and. And its status is not within range, destination undefined..........
True, however, do you really believe her current AIS placement? Live Ships Map - AIS - Vessel Traffic and Positions Zoom out. That's your side of the Pond.
Sorry, what makes you think she is on the move? Since she is in the yard perhaps her AIS is powered down?
Okay, my mistake I guess, but it's the first time since Venus is docked in Palm Beach that the location isn't updated. and i was asking if I was correct that she was on the move, i wasn't confirming it.
Take it up with the AIS people, after you plug the numbers (Latitude / Longitude ) into Google Maps. Daily Vessel's Itineraries - AIS Marine Traffic
The AIS overlay is on a Google image from 2011... you may want to consider that another big boat (with a much more rounded bow than VENUS by the way) was tied up at Rybovich at that time. ...the washed out superstructure detail does fool at first glance.
The overlay is merely a point of reference. Her position is determined by her AIS position (Latitude / Longitude), not by an image on a 2011 map. Take a look at Disco's post (# 227) and you will see the overlay of which you speak and the names of the current space occupiers. http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/166820-post227.html
Looks like the crew of Venus was concerned about your health.
