Favorite yacht harbours

Wow, I'm surprise no one has mentioned St.Bart's ,

Great harbours

English harbour, Antigua / St. Tropez, France / Marmaris, Turkey / Simi, Greece / Azores / Monaco..... etc. All great places for different reasons.

I dont have too much experience with famous harbours but when I was in Monaco earlier this year it was amazing.
B.T.W I think Thompson Bay, Rottnest (just off Perth), is not too bad either.

Hey, have you all forgotten what St Tropez is like ? This small village that has not changed in the last 50 years, where every late afternoon some of the most beautiful yachts come in the harbour and make a big swing in front of all the yachts before they can more ? I have been lucky enough to come in to that harbour on board different yachts, it's like parking in the middle of the village. St Tropez full stop.

St Tropez is always a special place to visit, but my favorite place is further down the coast between Toulon and Bandol, the port of Sanary sur Mer. http://www.sanarysurmer.com/index2.htm

Maybe not where you take your megayacht since the port has no space for bigger yachts, but if it isn´t too windy you can drop the anchor outside and use a tender. This is however often a windy place and as such perfect for windsurfing...

The town reminds of St Tropez but less frenzy and more casual. I like it.

If you come by car or a small boat, you have Bandol nearby and another nice place is Cassis. Here is where you can also visit "les Calanques" the scenic fjords. This is the real Provence and vineyards, olives (black), almonds and lavender are seen on the hillsides. The white wine from Cassis is famous, but these days you find also red wines of high quality from Provence. The Rosé you already know...

Be sure to always have Hugh Johnson´s Pocket Wine book onboard!

St. Tropez.

Is George still alive in St. Tropez? He used to come on board as soon as you docked, & expect a backhander. It wasn't compulsory, but if you didn't give it there was no room in the harbour next time..
Must be 15 years since I was last there. He's probably dead by now.
Always remember being sent ashore in the tender with $1,000 to get us a berth on a Saturday night in August. I offered George $500 ($500 for me ;o))& he was nearly in tears as the harbour was full (So was I). He must have made millions! Good on him. He was a good guy.

You must be talking of Lady Moura, 105 m, and behind her is Atlantis II, 115 m.

In Northern Europe, you must visit Marina Port Zelande in the Netherlands, its the most luxury marina in The Netherlands. Build in mediterranean style. Thats my favorite yacht harbour, Place 2 Monte Carlo Monaco.

Hornby Island

If your cruising the PNW, this is one of my favorite Islands. Sheltered waters, sandy beaches, warm water, friendly people, quiet, etc.
I actually bought a cottage there.
