    Pilots say they are there to inform and advise. Any time there has been an issue they say the CAPT is still ultimately in charge. We’ve only had a few incidents, and they weren’t major luckily.

    Yes the Captain is responsible.
    I no of two cases where a pilot was onboard a Yacht in the Seaway and were issued tickets for speeding.
    The first one was doing 1.3 knots over limit and was charged three thousand dollars.
    As I new the Captain I enquired with the Seaway Ship Inspector and he informed the Pilot is there to Advise and Master is responsible.
    There was another one this year that had a Pilot onboard and was fined
    Four thousand dollars.
