I did sound down in my 50. Made a big difference. My only regret is putting carpet over it.

Can you expand; Putting carpet over it? Helped / hurt?

Well I did the sound down which I like despite the weight it added. I then installed new carpet and I only vaguely considered hardwood which I now regret as the carpet is starting to show stains and stuff with 3 kids.
At the time I was just concerned with noise and I figured the carpet would help with the noise even more but I would take some noise in trade for some fake hardwood and a nice rug.

The rep at sound down is terrific! I think you will find once you solve that problem you will find the rest of the noise comes in from the engine rooms vents which are behind the couch in the wall. A lot of noise comes in from that- I’m guessing non insulated area. Just doing the floor though i would say reduced noise in my man powered 50 by 35%

I took a quick picture to show our E R access and the carpet.
3 x 3 office floor carpet squares that we have lots of spares for. When one gets stained beyond cleaning, a new square replaces it.
Also left room around the E R hatch to reduce wear on the squares.
When we cruise, the 2 lifted squares are squeezed back in place and you can not see any seems.

Do you recall what thickness you used under the carpet in your 50? I am installing new carpet this spring and planning to do sound down for when we are on the hook.

I used the 1/4” 2# psf rubber mat. It’s dense and effective.
