This is a new one.... Facebook tried to coerce the Canadian government to allow them to be exempt from our privacy laws in exchange for building a data center here and providing jobs.
It's a good thing this was before Trudeau.... he'd do literally anything, legal or not, to get more jobs in Quebec or Ontario.
An example of how the information collected on you is being used...
Facebook left 'hundreds of millions' of user passwords unencrypted...
The security issue was first reported by security researcher Brian Krebs, who published a blog post on Thursday detailing that Facebook employees built applications that captured the passwords of users and stored them as plain text, meaning a password would be readable just the same as it is entered to log in.
Even the lead NYT Tech writer has quit FB.

Never enter your email and password on any site unless it's your email provider's website. This is a common ploy that exposes all your contacts' data as well as the content of your emails. This is the tool for building detailed shadow profiles about people who never created a FB account. Other sites, like LinkedIn do this as well.
We don't know who bought the 1.5Mn contacts. Could be US agents, could be pandas, could be others..........or could it be Chase Bank?
