Well its a new year and I'm sorry to say but I won't live up to the promises I made above.... In an an effort to keep this thread going , and my motivation to create, I will post some images of the other Conceptual designs I ve been working on... My excuse for not completing the 3D models right through to manufacturing info and drawings... I'll admit that after creating the initial shapes and forms, 2 things happen; the amount of effort required to model the interior and details, grows exponentially and I lose interest in the creative process.

Therefore I have decided, just to focus on the development of the exterior models of the yachts in 3D, which is a shame as general arrangement is something I like to do. However I discovered I can export vector graphics from CATIA and use directly in Illustrator, so you may see some GAs yet.

This one was heavily influenced by my favourite Bannenberg Yacht , ex Katana, Oceana...

The concept was, a fast party boat , a bit like the Wally power 118. i.e. fast cruising around the med with frequent stops for dinner, lunch , cocktails etc.

Propulsion etc not really thought out, as she was more of an extreme styling exercise.

By the time I modelled the 3D she had grown to over 150ft, due to ergonomic reasons

I derived 3 alternatives from the 3D.

Well Looking at these old renderings I realise the aft end is 'minging' (Scottish slang for horrible)

There really is no deck space or good solution for maneuvering, or ship handling etc. However I like the mix of organic forms ans the architectural elements and would like to develop a practical yacht from this concept.

As some of you may notice , she is inspired by the J. Bannenberg formerly named Oceana, I mixed this up with a design for a fast ferry I made during my studies. And when I modelled her in 3D I developed the styling further.

Time for a new start

Dear all,
In a recent holiday to Brazil I experienced the violent crime I have been hearing so much about. at 7am the family house I was staying in was attacked by 3 armed Robbers, they held us at gunpoint tied and gagged us and prceeded to steal all of value.

Unfortunately this meant my Laptop, and back up of all work.

The good news is that I will have to start a new portfolio of designs. As always a tripto brazil is not complete without a visit to the Angra dos Reis region, this time I was luck enough to stay in a house with a boat , so have more inspiration than usual. Hopefully have a few new design concepts by end of summer posted here.

Well you're right the Dragon is inspired by all things Asian, I am myself half Chinese and was trying to identify what actually makes something Chinese. I have connections to Brian Chang from Yantai and was impressed by his Proa yacht. The Dragon is simply a 3D sketch of those Chinese elements I saw in the architecture over there. I think the Dragon has potential as a shorter vessel.

The blade is more contemporary, inspired by modern architecture and my time in Sweden this summer.

I was thinking of a split level , as you can see the model is very rough the challenge wil be developing it further ;-)
