No I didn't, they are from the automatic discharge (A) type and I put them close together in the center above the battery switches (will take picture tomorrow)
You cant help to learn a lot when you take on a project like this. I am fortunate enough to have access to great knowledgeable people in the industry. What about stove, heater, hot water heater, sentry, not 110 AC?
I removed the stove, we always BBQ, live in a warm climate, water heater (if needed) goes on the generator, microwave on an inverter, but all others is 12 volt (fridges, TV, electronics, etc.) Water en toilet system is also 12v only I'm not sure, but even would like to try aircon on a large inverter (5000/10000w), I have 4 large Trojan batteries and 3 huge Kyocera solar panels (735w), and always enough sunlight! (My Post is in Curacao)
Yup a 12V ceiling fan in the stateroom, turn off the a/c at night, open the portlights, pretty comfortable.
wanted more counter space, I like to cook. Gave me room for a drawer style dishwasher, and more floor space.
What a great job you are doing. Hope you get her to South Fl or the Bahamas to enjoy her. I was wondering what davit you used for your new whaler? Can you talk a little about the installation? Is it hydraulic? Is it extendable? Were you able to use the old location? Mine is the 600lb Nautical Structures, original in 1991. I would like to go to a 1000lb
Sorry not familiar with Nautical Structures. I have a Mar-Quip 1000# davit. All self contained, drill a hole in your foredeck, reinforced with Daytona board to spread the load, 4" pipe runs through the interior of the vessel all the way to the hull. Try and catch a stringer or strake, or build something to spread the load on the hull. Its all about transferring the load. I would not consider this an easy job, if done improperly a lot of damage will result. My davit does not extend, although there are models that do. That should be determined by were the davit will be located for structural reasons. I have a wired remote that will allow me to launch and retrieve the dingy by myself, only off the port side. I would love to have an 11' whaler, the davit can handle it, but it would block opening the hatches. I choice to go to a 9', I found it a lot more manageable, does not block the light coming through the hatches, allows for emergency escape out the hatches. Feels like a cork in the water. Maybe I will get another dingy for the other foot someday.
Lift Thanks for the reply. Mine is installed as you have outlined. 4" pipe etc. I just assumed your boat had a davit and you upgraded to a 1000lb. Mine only lifts 600lbs and I have to lift it by hand and pin it into position. I built a stainless extender to get my AB to lift over the rail. I sure would like to have a hydraulic one and I would get a whaler too. Thanks again and keep up the fine work on your boat.
Nice, very clean install. What are the rocker switches for, and why did you decide to put them up there? Looks a really nice sound system on your bridge, are you happy with it? Do you have a remote? Is it the same system for the cockpit, and salon?
Hi About time, I prefer a clean look, and that’s why I decided to put the rockers there, also there is not so much room on my dash and most installed stuff, is old and needs to be cleaned out later... Rocker switches currently in use are: GPS, Radar, Navigation Lights, Anchor (Top) Light and Horn. Later the Radio and waste tank discharge will follow. I have a Clarion CMD8 audio system, with Clarion MW1 remote in the cockpit, a Rockford Fosgate M600-4D amplifier and on the fly bridge 2 Alpine SPR-M70 speaker sets plus a Rockford Fosgate Marine Subwoofer M212S4. Not yet installed at the cockpit, the same speaker and subwoofer set (still in the box). I’m busy to convert a dock box into a storage and speaker unit, but this takes some time! In the salon I have a separate audio/video/PC/Internet/TV system
When you guys are ready to buy a mint 11 foot whaler sport with all brand new teak and fresh gelcoat, with a 2003 25 horse electric start mercury let me know. I am thinking of selling mine.
