This is "Dolce Far Niente", which *appearently* in Spanish means... "I have two yachts like this, eat your heart out" (no joke!). His other yacht is in the background and it's almost as big.

A pair of yachts at the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show. Many more to come in the next few days. This event is a massive undertaking for Show Management.

Lots of docks still empty, but will fill in over the next three days. Hundreds of boats in the water and they will all clear out in the 3-4 days following the event. Bahia Mar's docks have been completely re-built over the past year to accomodate mega and super yachts, leaving them with less dock spaces, but able to handle larger yachts. When these docks were built twenty plus years ago, the largest yachts were 70-80 feet in length... now this length hardly qualifies as a yacht!

    Yacht by Christensen

The yacht you saw was the 110' Christensen RENDEZVOUS. She featured not so long ago in the movie Donnie Brasco with Al Pacino.

In Italian, Fare Niente means "Doing nothing" and Dolce means Sweet (as in dessert).

    Lauderdale Show Breakup

Peter Kehoe was nice enough to let my son Matt (13) and I crew on an 85'er back to Palm Beach after the show. We've always stayed and extra day to watch this, it was way cool to be in the middle of it.......

    Perfect Prescription, evening shot

Here's PP, evening shot, I think besides Bart Roberts, the largest vessel in the show?

    Hi Tom!

I think the yacht you referred to as possibly being a "Cape Horn", is an 87' Raised Pilot House Johnson, designed by Bill Dixon. It's a radical departure in design for Johnson and emulates a couple of super yachts that have recently launched. Johnson also has 58' and a 70' in their line, that feature a somewhat distinct looking "wedge" shape.

BTW... great pictures of the Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show! Thanks for sharing!!

    Thanx, Carl

Carl, thanx for the info, I didn't think I had the vessel identified correctly.

If you don't mind the bandwidth usage, I'll be posting a few more pics soon, I have some fun ones from last summer's Lake Michigan/Huron cruise, and also from last weekend's trip to Mac Island, MI. (Not by boat, by car & air. Water's still in a solid state up there.)
