4,000 already dead. 100,000 to 240,000 expected to die and possibly up to 1,000,000, and that's just in the U.S. And I don't have a clue to how many are going to be so sick that they'll be wishing they were dead. I remember my last encounter with just the normal flu. I lost 14 lbs in a week. What didn't come out of one end came out the other until there was nothing left and it still came. That's small potatoes compared to this. If that doesn't make people to respect how serious this is what will?

"Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key member of the White House's coronavirus task force, told CNN Tuesday that the idea of recommending broad use of masks in the US to prevent the spread of coronavirus is under "very active discussion" by the group."

That discussion should have been had 3 months ago. It's "under discussion" now because we STILL don't have enough masks for the medical professionals much less the general population. If we geared up for the war in the Pacific this slowly after Pearl Harbor the U.S. would be speaking Japanese today. We built whole ships in one day.

Not a very positive article. Hard to understand why some people are unable to grasp how serious this is. One of our provinces out west has now provided policy to the Docs and health care people regarding who will get a respirator and who will not if that point is reached. They dont want the Docs to have to shoulder that decision alone, since they expect that decision may have to be made many times over. A seniors home in our province (Ontario) lost 9 folks over the weekend to this virus. By wednesday another 6 gone. The Doc who looked after many of the residents for years was visably upset and in tears. He has never seen anything that spreads so quickly with devastated results for the older folk.
We have just listened to our Federal government who has repeatedly told people to self isolate if you fall into certain catagories as well as telling people to keep a safe distance from each other when you do go out. i.e. food etc. The next step will be invoking mandatory stay at home for everyone. If people continue to move about when they should not then this will happen. It cant come to soon for me. Ive had enough watching some folks disregard the warnings and request to be safe. Most people are following the rules, but alot are not.

On our trip yesterday we didn't do anything that put us in close contact with other people except the Uber ride down there. Uber driver wearing a mask and gloves, us wearing a mask and gloves. We went to an empty boat, got it off of the dock, ran it up to Fort Lauderdale, even if we fueled, you're not really in close contact with dock workers......you throw them a line, or they throw you a line, they hand you a nozzle, and you fuel...….now it's a little more risk than staying at home, but less risk than going grocery shopping.

The cruise ship is a big issue and they're coming into my area. Why did these people even get on the floating petri dishes 2-4 weeks ago as this virus was ramping up.

The 2 most uncommon things in today's world are common sense and common courtesy. We should only wish the common cold were so uncommon. Or maybe they just believed someone who about that time said it was a "hoax" and would "disappear like a miracle."
From what I read the foreign nationals will be expressed to the airport and flown home. What's less known is what will happen to the 300 or so Americans, the crew, the 100 of DK what nationality showing symptoms and the 18 confirmed cases.

I believe they boarded on Chile on March 7, which means they probably left the US March 5. To put that into perspective- I flew from St. Maarten to Ft. Lauderdale on March 6. When I arrived I read news of the first known case of COVID19 in Broward County- it was that day. Things have degraded quickly.

The day before they boarded they watched the President who said the virus was no problem, they listened to the cruise line that said it was no problem. Unfortunately, they didn't do their own research to find out they were being lied to.

Well, if our Einstein President said the virus was under control, and if he said it was really another Democrat hoax, then it must be ok to go cruising, yeah, let’s go, nothing can go wrong now.

OK Guys, this is getting really serious now. My local Micro-Brewery has found my Home Address and started a delivery protocol.

    Keg you next week. HIC.

Nice, they got Pilsner, or at least a good Lager?
(Bitburger was my choice of ale, but no more as the local German deli, Old Heidelberg stopped selling it, so I switched to Coors Light to lose weight, but now too skinny, all skin and bones, need a high octane brew.)
Dear Santa pls keg me, but none of the sweet micro brew millennial raisin and tea flavored cute girlie brew they mistakenly call beer..

Sales of alcohol in general are up significantly. There is some worry that people will overdo it with nothing else to do.

I guess some of you gentlemen are suffering from massive TDS. Blame the guy who has been standing up to Commie China for the last 3 years... Who was criticized for stopping travel from China? Pathetic. Can we keep politics off this thread, please ?

Might be interesting to use it to sterilize your N-95 masks for reuse.
In reality it's a safe bet people will be drinking way too much and making all the bad choices that brings from domestic violence to driving.
In Massachusetts they've suspended sales of marijuana for adult use, but it's still available for medicinal purposes. There's a push on to reinstitute adult use sales though.
