Splash is the one in the picture yours? that boat is beautiful. I had an 87 42 Bertram MY. She wasn’t pretty but was a great solid boat.

I had a 33 Bertram Flybridge cruiser for 9 yrs and it was an awesome boat. I sold her in 07 and finally got back in the game last year with a 1993 50 Viking. The Viking has been great. She runs good, your not going to compete with the same vintage Bert in a head sea but you wont roll as much when you stop and your fuel burn at the same cruise will less for sure. If you stick to the Big three Bert, Hat, & Viking you'll be fine.
There's trade offs on them all. Good luck and congrats on whatever you decide

OP, I have had many sportfishers, from custom (winter, blackwell, gillikin) to production (36' hatt, 2008 60 GT hatt, now a 2017 62' viking). My father had hull #1 of the 35' cabo express, a 28' bertram, 2000 48' Ocean, 2002 52' Viking. They all have their positives and negatives. The bargain buy is the early-mid 2000's 48' Ocean. One of their best hulls, 3 staterooms, great space efficiency, etc. Just don't look at one with CAT 3196 (horrible vibration problems). For a higher price point, would look at the early mid 2000's 48 or 52 Viking. Same as Ocean, but better quality and support. Good friend of mine runs Viking Riviera and their yard down there is top notch, having that close by would be a HUGE positive.

Custom boats are great! But, they are more fishing first, cruising second. Smaller bridge, rooms, etc. Have to be very knowledgeable with Customs. Feel free to ask me any questions you have.
