....could also run both mains with 24v alternators to support the house, and then easier to run a 24 to 12 DC battery charger to support the mains off the house...

Reliability and redundancy is important to me. I want the engines to remain independent of each other and the house so using a converter to support the 12 vdc engine just doesn’t make any sense. I d rather use a 12 to 24 charger since again since would only be used when we don’t / can’t run the gen and we are out for longer than the house bank will last.

Deciding between the Sterling Dockmaster posted and the Victron. The Sterling is significantly more powerful but i don’t know much about them. Appears to be made in Taiwan not China. Not sure where victrons are made. Sterling is less known.

Redundancy, run two 24v alternators and a more durable 24 to 12 charger system. Less strain on the 24's charging 12's, more juice to the 24 for house and electronics.

I did a search over on Tony’s site… “adding a second alternator is extremely expensive and difficult to do right “

It’s a bit of a crapshoot regarding where they are made. Both companies manufacturer in several countries. It would be difficult to figure out exactly where a specific device is made. Victron has a stellar reputation in numerous market segments. Sterling does too but far less known and used than Victron.
