Can anyone tell me any, or hopefully all, of the islands, will accept a USCG Master Captions License is accepted to work in the Caribbean? I have searched a ton of websites with no luck getting any information. I'm wanting to move down to the islands and look for a job as a boat captain. Thanks,
Do you have your STCW Officer Endorsement? If so, you're fine. If not, you're only licensed for the US. What license do you hold?
Just a USCG Master 100 Ton. I have just started looking into an STCW Basic which I'm willing to do if necessary but I doubt I can get the Officer Endorsement from what I can tell. At least not now, but again, I'm willing to put the work in. I am looking to do this in 18 to 24 months so that is why I'm looking into this now.
Well, you must have the STCW Endorsement to work outside the US, the appropriate endorsement based on the position. The CG site has a checklist of what is required to get it. Or you can call a school and give them the information on your current license and your sea time and they'll advise you. Here is a link to the checklist. http://www.dco.uscg.mil/Portals/9/NMC/pdfs/checklists/mcp_fm_nmc5_208_web.pdf?ver=2017-08-31
