Not exactly a yacht but Milow is right, it's either "LE BOREAL" or her other sister the L'AUSTRAL or one of those other newbuilds. They sail for Compagnie Du Ponant
This boat is TERRANOVA 85 . Italian made and Italian owner. Her name is MUCHO GUSTO TERZO. She comes to Turkey and Greece in Summer time. I make her Services. ı hope this helps solving the puzzle.
can anyone identify this yacht? can anyone identify this yacht; i think it is 1930s; it's pretty large, perhaps 50-60 feet and broad any help appreciated as to builder or style and age richard
Hi, Congrats Mods. I am pleased to see the self centred Hamburg resident is no longer filling the forum or my inbox.
I saw this one at the Lürssen facility in Lemwerder. Any suggestions? It could be an authority boat or an old fast yacht?. Looks a bit like an small version of B&V's "A" in the bird view
That is "Destriero" the record yacht yacht and 69m built by Aga Khan at Fincantieri in 1991/92! The original plan was to scrap her at Lürssen I think but she is sitting there since 2009 and nothing goes really on. Thanks for that pic. http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/general-yachting-discussion/4356-destriero-have-you-seen.html
Thanks Milow! If I saw right the stern is cut off. Edit: I think the stern is very short. Saw another picture in the posted thread link.
Hi, Milow232 is correct as to it's ID, I don't know about the scrapping idea though. It arrived with Kalamoun from the UK and Kalamoun was scrapped.
Then they scrapped the wrong boat, I could name hundreds of (newer) yachts I would have scrapped before Kalamoun...
Hi, Evidently it was pretty rotten after it sat uncared for for so long in the UK. I have seen a small piece of it made into a sort of trophy sitting on the desk of someone who worked on it as his first boat when he started in the business.
I understand. It would be nice to build a new replica then.. Think about it, 46 knots in 1973 and an interior with a class that most new boats can not match...
I agree with Lars, Kalamoun was a radical boat for 1970. 45 knots from twin 20 cylinder MTU's was a fantastic speed. Designed by Sparkman & Stevens, with some input from Pininfarina, was almost the styling prototype for most cruisers for the next 20 years. A landmark design.
The two were ahead of their time and not fully appreciated. Pics at Devonport Naval Dockyard: Destriero Laid Up at Devonport - August 26, 2006 Two yachts vanish from UK port Pics at Lurssen's Lemwerder facility: http://www.yachtforums.com/forums/72273-post31.html
