    Hi,

You can't build anything that size that is not SOLAS.

    Thanks,

Then why would the "class" change as stated?

    Hi,

Class is short for Classification Society, there are a few of these GL, Lloyds, DNV, NKK and so on.

The vessel Type is what has changed if it were actually registered as a Pleasure Craft before and now shows Passenger Vessel.

Here is the extract from Marine Traffic.

    Vessel's Details
    Ship Type: Passenger
    Year Built: 2005
    Length x Breadth: 163 m X 22 m
    Speed recorded (Max / Average): 21.8 / 14.6 knots
    Flag: Bermuda [BM]
    Call Sign: ZCDX4
    IMO: 1009613, MMSI: 310593000

If you look further down the page you will see where she was previously registered as being German which might well have listed her as a Pleasure Vessel, now she is under Bermuda her actual type is Passenger Ship.

    Thanks K1W1,

Is fuel cheaper in Kristiansand, Norway?

P.S. Interesting how the GPS track seems to start in the middle of the "channel" between Norway and Denmark.

I saw this too, could it have to to do with change of ownership usually takes place in international waters?

no, i've seen the gps track going from hamburg all the way up to norway, so the time that they save the track data seems to be not that long

Edit: i've just found her going south in the north-sea, so i guess she's going back to hamburg or maybe Gibraltar (and the tracktime is really short, maybe not more than 24 hours)

well if that is indeed correct and the AIS hasn't gone whack, from Las Palmas she'd be heading to the Caribbean one would expect.

    Hi,

Not likely that it is turned off, Marine Traffic does not give you all over the planet tracking.

There are other services where you have to pay for the results where you get more info.

The AIS transmitter is on VHF so that other boats can see you, but when in the open sea it is not always possible that land based stations can pick up the signal.

Awesome, no doubt. But not as elegant as Pelorus. :)

Kevin, I find it is a bit unfair to compare "Eclipse" with "Pelorus". To me at least, nothing about Eclipse looks anything like Pelorus. Pelorus certainly is elegant....with swooping, sleek and curvy lines. Eclipse has more of an industrial and robust appearance. Though, this does not detract from her appeal, the two yachts have two different design personas. That is simply my take on it :)

That's correct...I can tell you she is mostly lit up now and has some seriously intensely bright lights along her main deck. I don't know whether they are just general purpose lighting for security purposes or if they are to mess with cameras or what, they are bright! Her underwater lights are on as well...very pretty!
