It looks that way on the main deck, and decreases as you go up. The main deck looks like it has around 12 feet and bridge deck appears to me more around the area of 8 ft. Maybe that is why it still looks well proportioned. If the numbers were decreased to match many other yachts, it seems you would have to add another 2 decks on her.

    My .02 cents.

It is very interesting - if you zoom in on her track history, it looks like she is using dynamic positioning rather than anchors?

    Hi,

If that is how close the DP can keep her in calm weather I would be looking to have a go at the system suppliers.

Maybe I should just have observed that they do not seem to be anchored??

    Is that normal?

P.S. Ooops - maybe I should have looked at the scale - the arc looks to be just over 500 feet - guess they could be anchored after all?

to be real, i think there's a mistake in the positioning in the marinetraffic system, evertime the map refreshes, the yachts (all of them) change positions, i mean, are you in a crazy hurricane or something??

I'm curious when she was being built it was widely reported that taking pictures of her would be difficult because of the anti-photo shield that shot lasers at detected camera's, I guess this is not true.

Becareful what you read and choose to believe. "Eclipse" does have very bright lights from bow to stern but I am sure these are more for security than anything else because photos still are taken easily when they are on.

there are some anti-paparazi lights on the ship, but while you're taking pictures from a distant shore with wide-angle cameras, the paparazi mostly take pictures with extreme telephoto lenses, these are directly focused on the persons aboard, which these lights might interefere the photos.
i've a nice article on a non-boating magazine here, where the author is at location on the yard speaking about the lights.
so i guess they're only working when you try to take pictures of people aboard.

Wit all the conjecture on this one, it could just be a bit of privacy.

    Marinetraffic

I have some overall comments in respect with marinetraffic:

You can open marinetrafffic under Google Erth instead in Google Maps.

    http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/ge.aspx

    That is a great service.

Further on from my point of view marinetraffic should be the main data base for the ships. If you are logged in you can up date the data of the very single ship.

    Cheers

Here's a few pictures of Eclipse in Nassau. Wouldn't want to be a deckhand on her.

Hey Thatcher, thanks for the pics. I've moved your thread into the one we already have going on the subject of Eclipse just to keep everything in one spot.
