Wow Benetti just announced that they signed two 100m+ yachts! I think their max. capacity at their Livorno shipyard is 110m..at least that is the max. length of the sheds.
Actually they build a new shed for one of the 100m projects and for potential projects of this size in the future.
A new 42-meter Benetti hull was put in the building shed recently. FB701 is her build number and delivery is scheduled for 2016.
Well, some go up for sale because of owners changing their minds or their situations changing. Then there are some people who buy, put up for charter, and put a sale price on it the moment it's finished. At the peak, up to 2008-9, there were some who made lots of money that way, selling for more than they paid. But with most it's the "what would it take to get you to sell price." I see the same thing on homes in our area. The most expensive homes for sale in Fort Lauderdale when on the market when they were finished. But no buyers at their asking prices. This practice really built Trinity, but then when the market fell, it killed them, because they'd guaranteed a sale.
I just realized that the 2003 built "Altitude" is now called "Cakewalk" and now already for sale asking 29,500,000$! Looks like the former owner of the 85m Cakewalk, now called "Aquila" conducted some down-sizing..
The brand new 56-meter "Surpina"... I assume on trials with the lower windows in tape and flying the Italian flag aft.
Actually the lower windows are pictured that large in other places as well so the trend of bigger and bigger ports continues with the advances in glass. http://www.yachtforums.com/index.php?threads/benetti-splashes-56m-superyacht-surpina.24483/
Benetti has launched the 63-meter FB265... called "Romantic"... essentially a bigger version of "Nataly".
