    The craziest request:

Well, here we are at 2100 local time, Christmas Eve, 2004.
I am eating dinner with my family at home, the owner is home as well but different state, 600 miles from Ft. Lauderdale. All is well and quiet.

    Then the phone rings.

The owner wants me to drop everything, go to the boat at a local marina and open the doors so his daughter and her boyfriend can stay onboard for the night and save $60.00 for a hotel room.
Their flight to somewhere from somewhere was delayed or cancelled or something.

Being a good sport, and on a salary: I did.

If the old man could afford a $9K marina bill per month, the yacht insurance as well as my retainer, etc, he could certainly afford to buy the little girl a room for the night.

    Guess not..

Norsman, that would be what I would think. But then if you are paying all that, cash then why not use the boat ;)

    Capt Chris,

    I agree with ychtcptn.
Wouldn't want the owner -himself- to come across this thread.

Thanks too for sharing your experience with a previous owner.
Never realized a boat owner would treat their Captain that badly!

Yes, I know ... this is the REAL WORLD!

    A
