All that needs is a fairy on the top (joke) IMO, theres too much weight, too high up on too small a footprint...I'd be concerned with the continual leverage this arrangement will transmit to the mounting points on the hoop top surface. Scale wise, those vertical tubes look more like 3" dia, but I'd go for 4" dia low down and try to spread the feet out wider. You may get quite a bit of vibration through this arrangement too, resulting in a pronounced wobbling of the very top end. It just looks very tall and skinny for the weight its carrying.
Err, perhaps that drawing is just not filled out yet? But as it appears now, I'd say the concern from CODOG still stands - "too small a footprint". Kelly
Looks like a very different mast. I would once again be checking over the specs on all equipment to ensure you do not have issues resulting from proximity to other equipment.
The last pictures are obviously not to scale and rather pictorial...totally different arrgt from the original. So, if this is the revised arrgt, its almost impossible to comment as to the aesthetic or structural aspect due to the sketchiness of it all ? I'd now be worried by the practicality of cable entries and servicing of the various items, with the aparent lack of space between each item and the extremely thin mounting platforms for each item...access to the underside of the domes, hingeing the radar covers back etc etc (radar antennas hitting the structure) Please tell me this isnt a build drawing from the yard ?
I'm neither a designer nor an engineer, but let me suggest that you move those horns to where the won't deafen everyone on the upper deck. Beyond that, wow what a crowd. No cross- interference or blocked signals?
Let me suggest lasik. It's a little more costly, but it looks better. Check page 1 figure 1 in this thread. The horns are the three funny looking thingies on the bottom rack facing forward.
As somebody can understant the shipyard trial install now the equipment in order to plan the cabling. A cool feature of the mast are the LED navigation lights made of titanium
Hi, My bad- As I said it was the picture I was referring to meaning the one above my post ( on the same page)when I asked where the horns were- I forgot there was a drawing at the start of the thread :-(
K1W1, Bud Abbot never fed Lou Costello such a straight line. Couldn't resist. Thanks for the opportunity to have some fun with my centurion post.
