Cut my acrylic on Saturday. I will post when its done. Putting in 16" Garmin, Icom radio and a glovebox to make up for the zero storage the helm has.

    Progress report!

still working on it but started dry fitting the panel and electronics. Now that I’m happy with the end result I need to re-enforce the original helm behind the acrylic panel.

Laid out and cut my 1/2" black acrylic for left side of helm. Added a small glovebox for sunscreen, sunglasses odds and ends you always have.

Awesome glove box idea! I keep trying to use those suction cup holders for little stuff and cups . Maybe if I end up wearing my coffee in the morning with soaked tide books and broken sunglasses a few more times I'll do something like you have done here.

I love it! That would be my end game to re-do the entire helm pod. I imagine quite a few man hours are in that project

Quite a few, but most spent on trying to figure out the dimensions. I had to fit it without taking the soft top frame off the boat. I used google sketch up program, the free edition and did a rough mock up from cardboard. Other than that it’s straightforward 3/4 inch plywood covered with 10oz and epoxy. Had to take it to a paint shop to have it sprayed.

If I had to do it again I would use 1/2 inch ply instead

Finished the helm work this weekend in the cold, damp barn. Fishhawk will go on the top left. other cords will be removed and holes filled. Hoping launch this week.

Finally finished up my dash! Funny thing ya Richard and I talked a few months ago and just happen to be doing the same thing without knowing it! I like his idea of the glove box. I plan on replacing my 7” Raymarine unit with a 12” unit down the road so I’m going to leave mine as is for now. I also did decide to remove the electronic compass from the middle above my wheel and replaced it with my autopilot head unit.

Couple more pics......Also Raymarine now has an app for Netflix! No more “back dooring” the software!

Looks awesome Josh! What is the 7" screen for?

I have also bought a removable mount to send my screen down to the fish deck. Can either mirror the Garmin or get my Fishhawk numbers via Bluetooth.

Well, after not believing Raymarine and finding out the hard way by blowing up the sounder board of the 16” Axiom Pro unit.....the particular Raymarine thruhull transducer that was on the boat is compatible with an Axiom unit but not an Axiom Pro unit. Either needed a CP370 sounder module or a regular axiom unit. Instead of using a separate sounder module I found a used 7” Axiom unit relatively inexpensive. It works great as a remote for the Fusion stereo mounted in the cabin as well as second display.

what mount did you use for your tablet? I have the exact same plan for my fish hawk! I like the Seasucker mount but not sure about $100 just for a mount
