One more thing I thought you exotic car/speed freaks might enjoy..... Sure hope this isn't considered hot linking, but here's a video of the pavement sprints to give you an idea of them at speed! Count the cars passed in the first several laps! Hope you enjoy! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NdcC8udU5AQ
Still waiting for Tarek to chime in, as I know he's somewhat of an fchat regular... In the meantime, why own when you can rent? http://www.gothamdreamcars.com/
If you don't build it it's just a poser. STRAT57; Very cool. Thank fans there are still a few good tracks around. NASCAR has gotten to be a bore. Tomorrow I'm heading for the Demo-Derby and figure 8's (unfortunately just as a spectator).
for a few years, my second car was an XKR coupe (the supercharged version)... so right now it's my only car. to be honest it has been delucasified with MSD ignition, delco alternator, modern gear reduction starter, holley fuel pump, along with a 5 speed manual gear box (bolt on conversion). but the engine and the 4 carbs are stock. In addition to all the highway miles, I took it to the track for a number of track days from Limertock to moroso, sebring, etc... no racing, just flat out driving!
It is perhaps not an exotic in most places but it is a timeless classic, she was delivered with a 5.6L V8 and a few years ago had a 6.0L V12 transplant. The photo is in front of my olde shoppe, I used to make Mercedes go fast in there. Steve
Hi Lars, It has been a while, my lil 300CE is jealous I had a Ford Cobra 4.6L 4 valve engine in the 300CE but I never could get the steering geometry right, also had rack and pinion. I have a 6.3L M119 that I would like to put in a 124 cab. Steve
996 GT3 Cup (sans rear wing) Far from street legal, but close to the most addictive thing I've ever known. Daily driver is a 1974 Ford Granada Babysh!t blue, FM/AM in the dash, three speed, red naugahyde interior. 0 to 60..... about 35 seconds.
Correct, street version GT3 is 996. Cup / later model production falls in the 997 grouping. Specifically, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (Type 997) racecars were introduced for the 2006 Carrera Cup. The previous model (Type 996) was used in the Carrera Cup GB since 2003. In 2000 it was the 996 In 2005/6 moving forward it became the 997
Here's a little trivia for you. The race brake pads for the GT3 are a little bit cheaper to buy that the street ones. Porsche race parts straight from your dealer at a good price. What other make does that for you? An ex-MotoGP rider client used to take his GT3 away for track weekends at the Nurburgring or Assen and get through 2 sets of pads and tyres and then drive home and give the car a regular service. The car did it, no sweat.
Just found this on Pistonheads. http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyId+20466 Check out the GT3
Impractical, but how I'd love to have that as a daily driver. Minus the 165K USD price tag it brings.
Not into cars but sure love speed. When not on a boat this is my passion. The Wheel standing Buell is 100 % street legal ran 9.0@149 mph in the 1/4 mile on gas. The Pro Stock bike is a 120" motor on gas runs 8.0's in the 1/4 @ 161. The black bike is a new addition for the street a 09 Harley Night Train, 103 " motor.
Exotic only to me maybe... A 1941 Ford Panel Delivery street rod - 350/350 not real fast but real dependable A 1947 Dodge 1/2 ton flat bed with an 85 Hp flat head six. Not fast by any stretch but also dependable and fun. A 1956 GMC sawed off short bed dually in pieces. To be powered by a GMC 270 six mildly warmed. And my driver is 19 year old Dodge w/ a cummins. Not fast, very noisey, runs like it's on a washboard, if I keep it a little longer it will be a classic ! I'd like the silver Jag for a driver but my ladder rack would ruin the profile. The real question is.... If you HAD to choose, no grey areas, one or the other, would you choose bronze and nybral wheels or rubber ones.... For me the trucks would go ... possibly even the house .... before the boat. ( & my little wife would prolly go along wid that )
