    Agree. I've found the search function very difficult and you & I have been through several incarnations of it.

    I agree and disagree with Nycap. I agree greatly with the value of local knowledge. When I go to an area I seek the latest, most up to date knowledge. Best sources I've found have been tow boat captains and some dockmasters plus in some areas fishing charter captains.

    I disagree on Active Captain. I don't get emails or anything else. But I do find them a good source of information and quick and easy to use. Not in place of local knowledge, but in addition to, and often an excellent starting place.

    From what I have seen of it the last two days it's definatelly an excellent starting point. I have no idea if their "Social Boating" aspect of it will ever be of much use, but at least I am armed with several destinations that I can now ask around about!
