Yas is probably one of the only yachts in the world that immediately stand out from the rest.

Honestly, a child, only the own mother can like :D:D. Cleaning and maintaining her must be a nightmare for the crew.

One of my sons was a conscript on a German frigate which was using the same hull like YAS (a former Dutch frigate from the identical class). When he was asked about his feelings and his life onboard, he always said, I do not know, I am always seasick, when out at sea!

Redelivery of "YAS" after some yard time at Lurssen. One or two things look a bit different, the Boot stripe has been changed. Before it used to be two bars of black or very dark green with a green hull bottom. Now the bottom is Black with a lighter green... perhaps to match the tint on the glazing.

Weird design for sure. Although I appreciate these types of yachts because they are unquie and don't look like the rest of them. Standing out from the crowd.

Absolutely, in fact, I love yacht A.
I saw her a lot of times in Sardinia, Capri, Ischia...she is gorgeous!!
Because of her design, she is not big for her length, but I love the shape and the outdoor living space on the foredeck is something new, a completely new way to enjoy the sea.
Also the open concept plan on the main deck..not fond of the jacuzzi in that area, but besides that, it's great if you want to enjoy the yacht with a lot of friends without barriers between interior and exterior with a fantastic unobstructed view.

Well "A" was one of the most loathed designs around at first and over the years it grew on people. Her interior is also quite different from most but overall it is open-plan and that helps especially with the amount of glazing that yacht has. With something like "Yas" which has to fit into the footprint of the naval frigate she was before., some of the spaces are disjointed. The master suite has as cool ambience and perspective though...quite unique.

You are right, I remember what some people and some designers said about A and about Philippe Starck...and don't forget Sailing Yacht A!!!
In Dubai I had the opportunity to chat with a crew member of YAS and he told me that the seakeeping is terrible

Well it is a Frigate hull.. what do you expect. Warships are not made for comfort. Especially Destoryers, Cruisers and Frigates, they are built for speed, getting tossed around is secondary lol. Lipstick on a pig... it's still a pig.

"YAS" arriving in Gibraltar after her work at Lurssen. I just realized that her steaming mast was removed and replaced with a more modern telescoping (hideaway) mast. Did this happen during this refit?
