My thought has always been that a boat (like a woman) will give you the best day in your life. SHE will also give you the worst day of your life and SHE will definitely get into your wallet. Now a war ship will take everybody's money and (hopefully) give everybody else their worst day. So I guess I can understand them being referred to as male.
So now that I've dug a nice, deep hole I'm ready to be buried girls.
BTW, back on topic, has anybody heard or gotten footage of what's happened with this yacht since grounding?

According to Janine at Dockwalk, "According to sources in the area, the yacht left the area on Monday end of the afternoon. After temporary work to repair the hole in the hull, she was towed to La Ciotat by the tug Laisse-Dire 3. There was also an anti-pollution tug, the Jason, along during the cross between and Sanary and La Ciotat."

So there you go, 3rd or 4th hand but it was on the net so it must be ...

Salvage is fair enough, the part I like is the anti-pollution escort.

For the price of that contract they could pay a politician to make a speech demanding an end to dumping raw sewage in the same waters.

And the net benefit would be about the same, except the politician probably releases less greenhouse gas.

I'm curious... how does an anti-pollution tug work? I'm guessing some sort of skimmer, perhaps.

...hi hi hi :D ...this is a subjective explanation to the feminine "she" given to a boat. Stop dreaming. The meaning is historical, that's the reason why we call some boats "sister-ship" in nautical industry...a feminine term as well...and no answer from the navy intellectual high-level specialists...until now !!!...:p :D

That's the source. What is the historical reasoning?

Although there are skimmers, and anti-polution tug is one whose job is to contain any spills. They'll be at the ready with pollution booms, pads, etc. They will not take part in the actual towing, but instead stand by in case. You have them operating whenever oil is delivered to platforms for power plants or storage depots, etc. and in those cases usually do launch service as well, but they will not get involved in any job that can't be broken off from.

Someone's translator is definitely not working. In English that made no sense what-so-ever. BTW, I'm still waiting to learn the historical source for referring to boats as "She" and the translation for pou pou pidou.

They skim cash from oil spill paranoia mostly. They sign lucrative contracts to standby with booms, skimmers, and absorbents. It's not a bad gig for crew, a great one for the contractor, and just another boat to wash if there is a spill.

I see. So the purpose of these ridiculous posts giving no coherent statements and certainly no coherent answers is to find my "limits"? Besides being a colossal waste of time, you really do not want to find any body's "limit". I will now break off as the topic seems to have been exhausted and Ancora obviously has no useful information to share.
