You will want to make sure there haven't been modifications to the fuel system but on my 93 46' the forward tank (300 gal) feeds the port engine and the aft tank (350 gal) feeds the starboard engine and generator. There should be a fuel transfer pump located on the aft end of the aft tank at the top starboard side. You will want to get familiar with this system for when you need to use it.
Congrats. I’ll send you a PM to see if we can meet before you take off for the East Side. Our boats “wintered” together in the shed last winter and splashed same day as well. Best, Steve
Hi, My 46 is from 1980. The tanks are centered like yours, no transfer pump. There are ball valves on the bulkhead beneather the saloon door for the fuel on mine. Rear tank feeds the Strbd and gen, port engine fed from the fwd tank. I could re-direct fuel draw from one tank to another if I wanted to or if I had too but in 30 yrs it has never been an issure. I only touch the valves to change fuel filters
Thanks for the info on the Fuel tanks. I just haven't been on her that much. I had it pulled for a professional Buff and Wax and that has not gone as planned, as far as scheduling and the contractor getting started on time. I hope to have it back in the water this week and visit her this weekend and start prepping for the 4oo plus mile journey. I am not a new boater just a new Post owner.
Interesting that there is another Post so close. I never got to meet George, the original owner. Do you know how long he owned this one?
So the Post 46 I purchased in Muskegon, Mi. is now sitting in Monroe, Mi. 485 Miles in 4.5 days. With the exception of alge in the rear tank, the trip was flawless. Now the interior updating will begin.
