My insurance broker has given that as the reason my pod driven boats insurance has seen increases, among other issues. I believe pods have been replaced after sheering off and insurance has been involved.
I have a friend who is a Volvo Penta dealer and he told me 1 pod is $70,000 his cost. So I can see insurance companies increasing their rates. $70K seems astronomical and it has me questioning my recollection. In addition it is my understanding that the joystick aspect is significant factor for inexperienced boaters being comfortable buying bigger boats. Which stands to reason that the inexperienced would be more likely to run aground at planing speeds.
