24v. ER Blowers

Yes, They work like a champ.
Just a different model from yours.
No telling what Honeywell was making 46 years ago.

I replaced my solenoid when that system went from 32Vdv to 24Vdc.

Mine looks just like yours, just never noticed that thingie poking out.

Here is my thermo switch. Yep, the clock spring in the back looks like heck but after 46 years untouched, still works like a champ.
Mounted high on the aft/center-line.

The 4" duct you see in the last picture picks up from the overhead in the middle of the E R and goes to the thermo activated blowers.

Please excuse the wire mess over the battery chargers. After replacing the mechanical engine temp leads to the lower helm and pulling other leads, I have yet to return here to clean up the spider nest.

IMO, nothing beats these mechanical thermo contactors.
I'm sorry you could not get your old one working.

Still looking for mine.

I gave up (for now) on a sister thermo switch to mine.
Interesting that my model was discontinued and seems replaced by the newer model similar to yours.
I would SWAG, your model should be the better design.
Or, cost reduced design that I keep discovering in other products.

Years ago I installed a small adjustable temp sensor, the size of a matchbox, under the hood of my E-type so the fans would come in to cool the engine bay and eliminate vapor lock. It cycles the fans on and off until the engine has cooled enough. Can’t remember where I got it from though!

The thermo switches we have are just that, a simple mechanical switch, pushed on/off by an expanding/contracting spring. No external (12 or 24Vdc) is required.
IMO, this just keeps it super simple. After 46 years, Mine works fine for me.

Now, A simple button thermal switch could work also. Not sure of the amperage specs rite now.


Maybe the adjust-ability of the newer gizmo has something to offer but is beyond my personal (Crappy) KISS theorys.
