sailing yacht at the Sails Marine in FLIBS docked across from Marie is the 141' Gloucester fishing schooner Columbia that was built in steel by Eastern Shipbuilding in Panama City, FL.

    f (2).JPG

Eastern Shipbuilding is now in the process of building a second replica of famed-designer Starling Burgess’ schooner which is 141' overall, 110' at the waterline with a beam of 25.5' and a draft of 15' 7" that will spread more than 10,000 square feet of sail.

    f (3).JPG

Being an exact replica of the original that was launched on April 17, 1923 you can appreciate the exquisite detailing of such a complicated rig as compared to the much simpler setup found on today's modern sailing yachts that can sail "automatically" with a much smaller crew.

    f (1).JPG

Coming down the Intracoastal about to go underneath the 17th Street Causeway Bridge is this fine sportfisherman.

Perhaps someone can hazard a guess as to her make, model, etc.

    f (5).JPG

Approaching from the South under tow on her way to the Las Olas Marina for the show is the spaceship like 123' Oceanfast yacht, Perseverance II, another super cool far out Jon Bannenburg design that was pictured earlier in this thread. 2014 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show - FLIBS

The 164' yacht Arianna built by Delta Marine Group in 2012 has a top speed of 16 knots and a cruise speed of 14.5 knots with a 5,000 nautical mile range at economical cruise speed.

    aa (2).JPG

Lady M is a 144' Intermarine Savanna built in 2002 for 10 guests in 5 staterooms and 8 crew.

    aa (3).JPG

Olga, delivered in 2003, is an incredibly clean and well-cared for 121' composite yacht designed by Jack Sarin to accommodate 9 guests in 5 cabins can easily cruise at 18 knots.

    aa (5).JPG

Status Quo is a 142' Richmond Yachts creation and is compliant with Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) and American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) safety standards thus offering not only great peace of mind but the ability to offer the yacht for charter.

    aa (4).JPG

At Last is a 145' yacht built and launched by the Dutch yacht builder Heesen in 1990 was fully modernized and is in pristine condition after a full refit in 2014.

At the Pier 66 Marina, aka the Fort Lauderdale Marina at the Hyatt Regency, one of 5 different Show locations, on the face dock we find Atlantica a 135' Christensen built in 2000 refit in 2012 with an interior by Donald Starkey that has 5 cabins sleeping 12 with a crew of 7 carrying a 30′ Intrepid w/ 2 x 300hp Mercury tender, a 21′ Novurania tender, and 2 Sea-Doo RXT’s among other toys for extra fun.

    a1 (1).JPG

Looking brand new we have a 156' 1996 Trinity named Themis who can travel an economical 6,800 miles carrying 10 guests and 9 crew in an elegant and luxurious interior any place on the planet.

    a1 (4).JPG

To the stern of Themis we find Lady Leila, ex Miss Rose, a 132' 2008 Horizon Yacht refit in 2011 with flexible, luxurious and spacious accommodations for up to 10 guests and 7 crew who can reach hops of up to 3,000 miles at a time.

As testament to her outstanding design she was a finalist in the World Superyacht Awards 2009
in the Best Semi - Semi-Displacement or Planning Yacht 40m category.

    a1 (5).JPG

Taking advantage of Pier 66's new layout of floating docks we find Sai Ram a 170' Bennetti beautifully designed by Stefano Natucci that was launched in 2004 in an easily accessible interior space.

Her interior design was executed by Lazzarini Pickering Architetti and can be described as modern, highlighted by dark wood, warm colors, and ample natural light throughout the yacht making for spaces that say welcome aboard!

    a1 (3).JPG

Back on the face dock is a 1987 87' Burger designed by Jack Hargrave refit in 2007 hailing as Heritage was previously named Ar-De; her luxurious interior was designed by Jack Bursack.

She accommodates 6 guests overnight in 3 cabins, including a master suite, 2 twin cabins along with 3 crew in 2 cabins to ensure a relaxed luxury yacht experience.

On Monday, the last day of the Show, there was another YF tee-shirt sighting, this time at the Hatteras Pavilion checking out the super awesome GT70 a new model just making her debut with Twin CAT C32A's @ 1900 bhp, deep propeller pockets, closed-cell foam coring, variable deadrise running bottom with impact-reducing convex shape at the bow, optional Sea Keeper gyro stabilization, and an innovative comfortable 5 stateroom arrangement, providing for crew flexibility.

    aa (3).JPG

With her blue hull she blends right in with the azure blue color of the water in her fishing grounds so the big ones will barely see her coming after them at her top speed of 42 knots or at her cruising speed of 35 knots!

    aa (5).JPG

Not only is the tuna tower the best vantage point for spotting your Tournament winning catch but is also a great spot for socializing and taking in the action on the docks!

With 11 rocket launchers on the tower, 6 around the cockpit and 5 more in the fighting chair I don't know how Mr. Tuna will stand a chance!!

    aa (7).JPG

Hats come in all shapes and sizes from the 45EX pictured here to a 100' motor yacht.

    aa (8).JPG

The EX 45 can be configured for fishing or cruising with the ability to hit a top speed of 40 knots or cruise all day at 36 knots.

There were lots of yacht toys at the Show such as this beautiful work of art a Bell 429 Global Ranger a light, twin-engine helicopter developed by Bell Helicopter and Korea Aerospace Industries that has a wingspan of 36', is 42' long, has a top speed of 178 mph, a range of 449 miles, costs $5M+ and runs with a Pratt & Whitney Canada PW200 engine.

    aaa (3).JPG

Beyond that aside from loving to ride in helios I enjoy the beauty of their design and the complexity of their working parts as you will see in the photos that follow.

    aaa (1).JPG

The Bell expert at the chopper said that this model is their flagship that at 4,200 plus payload is really too large for the yachts in the Show and that she would be more suited for yachts in the 200'+ category.

    aaa (4).JPG

Helos are a great example of beauty as the result of form following function!

    aaa (5).JPG

When you stop to think that your life is in the hands of a bunch of nuts and bolts you are reminded of the necessity of an expert mechanic for your helio as well as your yacht!

Another curvaceous beauty at the Show is the Zeelander 44.

    aaa (7).JPG

She has a top speed of 34 - 38 knots depending on the size of Volvo Penta IPS drives you choose.

    aaa (10).JPG

She has a range of 300 - 400 nautical miles depending on the power package you install.

    aaa (9).JPG

Love the detail of her stainless steel dual exhaust tips!

This is from 2008 but you will get the idea!!

    aaa (8).JPG

Talk about a curvaceous beauty how about this Hinckley Jetboat named Rambler II for being fast and gorgeous!!

This Hunt 44 Express Yacht Soule Girl is here from Maine.

    aaaa (1).JPG

She is powered by 2 fuel efficient Volvo Penta IPS 600 429 hp diesels POD drives with the DPS "hold-in-place" feature has an aft deck wing station and she will hit 23-24 knots.

    aaaa (5).JPG

Built by Vicem Yachts this Windsor Craft 40 is 42' long overall has a cruising speed of 27 knots with a max speed of 29 knots from dual Yanmar 6LY3-UTP 440 hp diesels.

    aaaa (2).JPG

    aaaa (3).JPG

This Fleming 55 named Five Keys has dual 450C diesels giving her a cruising speed of 16 knots with a top end of 18 knots and only has 2350 hours on her engines.

There was no lack of "green" boats in the Show this year as represented here by the 40' Greenline Hybrid.

With her exceptional low-drag hull shape derived from sailboat hull lines, hybrid drive, solar roof, and lithium batteries in a hull built using advanced infusion technology you can go "green", from diesel to quiet electric, with just the flip of a switch.

The running costs of electric boating are 10 times less than burning diesel fuel, even disregarding her solar energy!

    bb (4).JPG

The Tiara line was well represented by their classic 3900 Convertible.

    bb (5).JPG

With the optional twin Cummins QSC8.3 Diesels generating 600hp each she cruises easily at 33 knots for a range of 300 miles and can hit 36 mph for the real fun!

    bb (1).JPG

If the yacht of your dreams was not there then her model was like this 152' Feadship Como whose main deck was able to be wrapped in a continuous surface of glass by setting it against the aluminum superstructure rather than into it.

    bb (2).JPG

Yachts with toy cabannas were all the rage at the Show!

Sometimes a name says it all!

Watch Blank Check fly at her top speed of 41 knots and cruise at 35 knots!!

    aaa (2).JPG

Gregarious is another Jarrett Bay Boatworks 43' creation that can hit a top speed of 36 knots and cruises to the fishing grounds at 35 knots.

    aaa (3).JPG

Plain Simple is a 70' Spencer who most recently won the 2014 Custom Shootout 13th Annual Charity Fishing Tournament off Abaco Beach in the Bahamas.

    aaa (4).JPG

Rally Round The Family is a 70' 2013 Ferretti 690 that has a top end of 33 knots and a cruise speed of 30 knots with 3 cabins and heads for guests and 1 cabin and head for crew.

    aaa (1).JPG

This cool cat is a Havana 40 Flybridge by Cruiser Cats that has a variety of engine options to suit every need
    16 Knots with 2 x 110hp motors, 19 Knots with 2 x 180hp motors, or 24 Knots with 2 x 260hp motors.

This Sunseeker Predator 60 has a cruising speed of 33 knots using 62 gallons per hour and has a top speed of 42 knots burning 86 gallons per hour.

    a (10).JPG

She has 3 cabins and 2 heads.

    a (8).JPG

Here you get a better look at the beautiful dark grey color of her exterior finish and a view of the immense sunpad.

    a (9).JPG

Built by Dominator is Kokomolink a 95 footer with 4 staterooms that can cruise at 20 knots while hitting a top end of 27 knots.

There were some beautiful classic boats at the show such as this Windsor Craft 36 Open Downeast Express.

    a1 (4).JPG

With a cold-molded hull and deck painstakingly constructed of mahogany using West System epoxy, she is a modern boat inside and out.

    a1 (5).JPG

The 36 Hardtop has a top speed of 36 knots and a cruise speed of 30 knots that makes it easy to reach those far away getaway spots for weekends spent comfortably in an air-conditioned v-birth cabin with a proper head and galley.

    a1 (3).JPG

The circular staircase of Polo V a 105' Broward built in 2004 caught my eye as being a fairly unusual configuration that was executed in grand style.

Her interior has some sumptuous features such as the extensive use of hand rubbed cherry and the rippled glass wall shower in the Master Stateroom that faces the interior of the room for everyone's enjoyment.

    a1 (1).JPG

The spiral stair case takes you all the way up to the sky deck giving you fantastic views as you go gracefully from one deck to the next!

Here is another yacht, Vango, sporting a helicopter which is a Eurocopter EC120B.

    a2 (1).JPG

Did you ever wonder what superyachts carry in their toy garage; in Vango's we find kayaks, oars, skateboards, paddle boards, fishing tackle, life rings, handrails, boarding ladders, a tender crane, ladders, bicycles, wakeboards, boogie boards, and a snake basket for starters.

    a2 (2).JPG

And of course she carries the ultimate super yacht toy a helicopter!

    a2 (3).JPG

What better way is there to arrive on your yacht when she is in Newport!!!

And with a cruising speed of 124 mph it will not take you long to get there!!

    a2 (4).JPG

Fraser Yachts had the scathingly brilliant idea of painting the I-beams at their display to match their logo color and some of the yachts hull color such as My Trust Fund to match!

    a2.JPG

My Trust Fund is a 147' Hakvoort built in 2008 is fresh from a refit in 2013 sleeps 12 guests in 5 en-suite staterooms along with 9 crew can cross 4,600 nautical miles of ocean on a single tank of diesel.

Her tank(s) holds 16,907 gallons of fuel.

The Oceanfast yacht Echo a Jon Bannenburg design of this James Bondesq yacht is always a standout in a crowd!

    a21 (4).JPG

At 130' she is almost as fast as she looks hitting a top end of 25 knots cruising easily at 17 knots using 2 waterjets attached to 3,600 horses.

    a21 (3).JPG

From modern to classic further down the dock is the 131' Feadship Seagull of Cayman a stern-canoe design built in 1980 then refit in 2006 transports 12 guests in 6 luxuriously appointed staterooms at 13 knots for 3,600 miles or range.

    a21 (5).JPG

Huntress is a 180' Feadship launched in 1997 provides a safe and sumptuous accommodation for 10 guests in 5 cabins along with 14 professional and dedicated crewmembers there to cater to your every whim.

    a21 (1).JPG

If you need to make a fast get away you can count on this Sunseeker Predator 82 Hideout to spirit you away at 35 knots along with 8 guests in 4 cabins and 2 crew in 1 cabin to that secret fishing hole.

With the proper tackle and heavy duty fighting chair that elusive big one will not stand a chance.

The Zeelander Z68 is the big brother to the 44' model we saw earlier.

2014 Ft. Lauderdale International Boat Show - FLIBS

This exciting model that just made her debut at the 2014 Miami International Boat Show is virtually silent at her cruising speed of 25 knots which gives her a range of 400 nautical miles.

If I was going to use the word "bespoke" to describe any one yacht in the show it would be the Z68!

    a11 (1).JPG

This 2011 Eurocopter AS350B-2 is the air tender to yacht Seanna whose paint scheme is the perfect compliment to her chopper.

    a11 (2).JPG

Her 133 knot cruise speed gives her a range of 360 miles.

The greatest yacht builders in the world like Fincatieri are also the world's greatest model builders!

When a yacht like Serene who is 440' long and has a 15' draft cannot attend a show the next best thing is an exact scale model to show to prospective clients.

    aa1 (2).JPG

    aa1 (5).JPG

    aa1 (1).JPG

Sometimes shipyards use models such as this to introduce new concept designs by in this case Dutch superyacht designer Cor D. Rover's 264' Skyback.

    aa1 (4).JPG

Vanatis is a 403' concept yacht designed by Andrea Vallicelli Design that will have 13 guest cabins and carry 52 crew plus 6 staff at a max speed of 20 knots cruising for 6,000 miles at 14 knots.

Perini Navi was showing a model of their 230' Sybaris that is nearing completion at La Spezia.

The Pirelli PZero 1100 yacht tender is one kick it boat.

She is 36' long cruises at 36 knots and tops out at 50 knots!
