This morning I had a lengthy conversation with the owner of the very last Trumpy, which was built in 1973. She asked me what effect a "new" Trumpy on the scene might have on the market and value of original Trumpy yachts. I speculated that the introduction of a proper remake of the marque would only bolster interest in and improved value for original boats. I'm confident that Vicem will do a good job in executing the build. Their boats are lovely. I think that the gold "T" scrollwork is in good hands.

how do you think owners of older hargrave designed hatteras MYs feel when they see the carver inspired, Brunswick bean counter approved "yachts" the company is producing these days?

same for Chris Craft owners and probably Bertram...

As one of the bottom feeders, I am curious to know if you have seen the normal uptick in sales that you predicted back in February. Has there been a increase in sales across the board or in a particular bracket? Or are people still playing the "wait-and-see" game?

In the 30' to 50' market I'm seeing people coming back into the market. Those waiting seem to be waiting to find out if they still have any money, not for prices to fall any more. The deals seem to be gone except maybe for the repos. Those sellers left in the market seem to be willing to wait for the market to come back up. Maybe they can't afford the loss.

NYCAP nailed it: until the bank repo boats disappear, the 'normal' market suffers.
The repo guys are bringing beaucoup product into the market (and this seems to be on the increase) and selling the good stuff, in some cases, at fifty cents on the dollar.
A burgeoning bottom basement, if you will.
SeattleMike, if you are indeed a bottom feeder, there truly is blood in the streets.
    Good luck.

    NYCAP and Loren,

Thank to both of you for your replies. I have literally spent the last two days perusing the forums trying to digest as much of the information as I can. I am indeed a bottomfeeder, but the last 48 hours have convinced me that I need to do more homework... just so I can get a better idea of how much I don't know. Finding this forum has been like discovering the Rosetta Stone and I am personally very grateful to the people who take the time to post real information and professional opinions.

    Thank you, again.
