Interesting. Yep, the oil temp is thermostatically controlled. Both engines failing at the same time is still funny. I wonder if a coolant change...
YEP. I hate to ad, new or rebuilt heads mean nothing. Poor seating, shaping (reaming) and after lunch Friday (lack of testing) will fail a new...
Cat 12.9s don't use sea water for the air coolers? F. M. C18s & C32s use sea water. Side trickle raw water hose to the ZF clutch. 2 stats.
Modern clutches have their own oil. My 12V71s have 4, 2 for each head. but that's a 60 year old design. But my oil coolers are first after the...
Hang on. Back with fresh refreshments. While pouring I remembered something; I read somewhere a while back, MAN V8-900 had dual and different...
I may have been distracted with my last clutch cooling thought. Usually clutches are raw water cooled thru their own H/E. Looking again at the O...
Any wood or plate where the fish chair would go?
Huummmmm. Looks like balsa to me. Interesting.
Head seals are a fowl. DD oil coolers are pretty solid. Yours may be external and easily checked but doubt it. Pull all side covers off and ensure...
WHOOW That looks great. What was the final finish coatings?
Balsa in the deck???
Not a MTU guy. We usually call in FDDA when we get a rare MTU call (We do work on Series 60s ourselves). I do find it interesting that the...

The cooling side hose on these ZFs are such a small part of the total water flow, any restriction would cause a warmer clutch temp.
The old (original) SeaStar just had 2 lines from the helm. You added fluid at the upper help pump. Great for out boards, I/O and small inboards....
All good but one thing. The steering ram does move during operation. Hose or synthetic tubing is required here. I recommend hose.
Of course, Pictures are better than us playing word/term TV games.. Vanna and I are getting to old. Send pictures... We like to watch...
The can has the check/bleed valve built to the bottom of it. From there, two lines go to the steering ram. Air valve (tire valve) and pressure...
That is the old Hynautic system taken over by SeaStar. I do question some of your notes but your tech has eyes on and we don't. What is your...
To much hidden copper that is probably still in great shape. I have re-plumbed boats before (including mine) in the past for the steering system....
