  1. The W-130’s galley presents a bold contrast in materials. Cornering the attention is a restaurant grade oven and cooktop that stands like a shrine to food preparation. Other cooking gear includes 48 cu.ft. freezer, a dishwasher, a convection oven, trash compactor; with an extra 50 cu.ft. freezer on a lower deck. A welcome idea, the island has a raised countertop for quick snacks or keeping the cook company.
  2. Commercial-grade construction collides with a country kitchen as brushed stainless cabinets are covered with a decorative, herringbone wood pattern. As a final touch, the door pulls match the roundbar rails found on the stove and refrigerator. There are two side-by-side, deep-bin sinks for doing dishes and one, small island sink for food prep. And finally, a flat panel television screen rests in a lair above the cabinets, for followers of Emeril Lagasse.
  3. Presiding over the entrance, an owner’s office occupies a short hallway that leads to the master stateroom. It is brief, but functional, with a bookcase and filing cabinet to port. Notice the pattern inlay on the door. An entire book could be written on the construction process of Westport's doors, which start as a corrugated, plastic panel that is cut to size, then sheeted with a veneer and edged with solid wood. In the end, it is ultimately a laminate that gains rigidity by the sum of its parts and the adhesive that bonds them together. Wherever hinges will be placed, a block of wood is inset for anchoring. The entire piece is then final cut, stained, sanded and sprayed. Actually, the last two steps in that sequence will be repeated several times until it is perfect and passes a final inspection.
  4. The Master’s quality of interior design also evolves as the leading motif in the yacht’s interior. Layers of clear coat urethane result in a long lasting finish, accentuating the depth of the wood and adding a classic overall tone. The king size raised berth dominates the cabin, yet fits perfectly into the design theme with cabinets and coverings. Fine art has its place on the walls, adding unmistakable class.
  5. A small vanity lines the port side of the master, along with brief dressers adding counter space for cuff-links and the like. Rope lighting casts an indirect illumination from the recesses above, setting the perfect ambiance for winding down, selecting a movie and enjoying the luxury that abounds. Set into the Master’s cabinetry is a 42” hi-def plasma TV screen, capable of receiving and playing every movie and video offering in the library. The master is surround-sound equipped with a Crestron wireless controller. And finally, the black-out shades on port and starboard can render daytime into night.
  6. W-130’s Master Head is also a study in balanced fine interior design, with light/dark/contrast and color control performing in perfect harmony. Color splashes of the light peach/skin tone wash basins reflect artistically in the color patterns. Gold/brass, leather wrapped door fixtures are one of a kind. (see close up at end of review)
  7. Her interior design theme continues as the lower deck vestibule is reached by a curved staircase, which in turn leads to a lower deck VIP and guest staterooms. Another convenient staircase, aft, opens to the engine rooms and utility bases.
  8. VIP staterooms sport understated, simple decor, with raised queen size berths; fully carpeted and conservatively trimmed, it offers liberal walk-around space. Heads and showers are private for each room. (see below)
  9. Another view of the VIP stateroom reveals ample drawer space, hanging lockers and a 32' hi-def LCD. There are a total of two VIP staterooms, port and starboard, as well as 2 guest twins, each with ensuites.
  10. W-130’s lower deck luxuries extend even further, to the VIP heads, which include granite countertops, braised gold fixtures, plus toilet and bidet.
  11. An alternate view of the VIP Head shows the stand-up shower, with glass door. Again, rich woods, granites and tiles, all starkly contrast in a mixed element scheme that somehow works very well.
  12. Crisp, bright and totally utilitarian, the W-130’s lazarette includes a stainless steel work bench, non-slip flooring, tool chest, air compressor and a well-lit work space. Access hatches abound, not just here, but all over this boat, including main salon / aftdeck cut-outs should the mains ever need replacing.
  13. The electric panel, shown here between the engine room and lazarette is easy to read, logically laid out and quite complete for a yacht this size. It truly makes you appreciate the 'production' aspect of this yacht. Westport's got this - along with many other systems - down to a science.
  14. Twin MTU 12V4000 main engines produce 2,735 hp each. ZF gears transmit the torque via 5" stainless Aquamat shafts, which in-turn spin a pair of custom 5-blade NiBrAl cast, CNC machined props. Cooling water is supplied via molded, sub-surface FRP scoops that feed dual 5" butterfly valves with bronze sea strainers. As seen in this photograph, stainless rails run the perimeter of the powerplants to keep flesh off the furnace in pitching seas. As with every Westport we've been aboard, the engine room is orderly, accessible and provides good walk-around room for servicing.
  15. Looking aft, the engine room is dominated by intakes, glow-nuts and the fiery breath of these behemoths, which is funneled along the chines. Hidden from view are twin 65kW Northern Lights gensets, located port and starboard. Seamless Power Transfer is standard when switching to shorepower, or when switching loads from one genset to the other.
  16. The Westport 130' was originally introduced at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show in 2001. Since then, the W-130 has proven to be a solid, stable platform from which engineers have continued to amass information, further refining subsequent builds. It is the best of a custom built yacht with the excellence that comes from producing multiple reiterations.

The new W-130 continues in the Westport tradition and is likely to become their
most popular yacht-to-date... and an instant classic.
