You can blame the US market's "25 year rule" for the skyrocketing Skyline prices. Production of the R34 began in January of 1999, which means that as of January 2024 it was legal to import them into the US. Prices doubled almost overnight. A few enterprising folks had purchased them for "collections" ahead of the 25 year point and made a killing the day they became legal.

Midnight purple is an outstanding color, but Millennium Jade is my personal favorite GT-R color.
