I'm a little concerned that the shaft may not be strong/safe enough for a 5 blade wheel.
    I don't recall a shaft rating mentioned.

That is correct! I will be changing the shafts too as was discussed earlier in this thread to AQ22

If you are replacing shafts then whoever you are buying shafts from should easily be able to provide you the taper and key dimension items Veem needs for props. Should all be standard so just need to confirm.

Make sure it s AQ22HS (high strength). The prop shop should be able to calculate the safety factor for the shaft and make sure it is adequate

you won’t want this to happen (although in this case, failure was caused by a heavy handed previous captain and iffy wheel installation by diver)

Actually, according to the MFG web site AQ22HS only starts at a 2.5" Dia.
If he has the real estate I suppose he could go up a qtr inch in diameter.

i had 2” AQ22HS machines by by local prop shop when I repowered my 53 Hatt 3 years ago. I forgot where the stock came from... I also had some 3 1/2” shaft re done after the breakage pictured above for the 84 I ran and the stock was made in italy.

Not doubting that, but if the OP took his information off their website it clearly states HS starts at 2.5. Doesn't mean smaller isn't available to order.

They might've cut down the 2.5" to 2.25" on a lathe......I would think a good prop shop could do that pretty easily.

Here is the suggestion from VEEM I would have expected for a 5 blade?

    Propeller Quotation
    Propeller style: VEEMStar-LC
    Propeller diameter: 27 inch
    Pitch: 30 inch
    Effective pitch: 31.5 inch
    Blades: 4
    Blade area ratio: 75%
    Interceptor: Included (1.0mm)
    Extra interceptor strips: Not included
    Shaft size: 2.25 inch
    Hand: LH/RH Pair
    Packaging: Included
    Bore Details: SAE

Dynamic balancing to ISO G2.5. CNC machined to better than Class S. Blade tracking better than ± 1mm (0.039inches). All tapers blued to 70%.

I would ask them how came to those props. You had 30x32 before and now they are recommending 27x30? Even with effective pitch of 31.5 if you want to call that same pitch as before , I would ask them why they are suggesting such a smaller prop? In a previous post you said Veem suggested a much different propeller. Are you sure the correct info was provided this time and nothing got lost in translation?

    Yea double checking now!

    First suggestion from them was

    Propeller style: VEEMStar-LC
    Propeller diameter: 29 inch
    Pitch: 29.5 inch
    Effective pitch: 31 inch
    Blades: 4
    Blade area ratio: 75%
    Interceptor: Included (1.0mm)
    Extra interceptor strips: Not included
    Shaft size: 2.25 inch
    Hand: LH/RH Pair

Heres some pictures to update you guys on the progress...

All the engine work is done.
    Hull Bottom Done.
    New Salloon Door Installed.

Now working on the 12v wirings.
No updates from VEEM or ACME yet.

Finally! Feels like my B42 Repower Project is coming closer to the finish line. I’m guessing a lot of ppl may like or dislike this glass door mod, and my shipyard thinks is a waste of money! But here you go!
