In the back of my mind (way back there), I have accounted for the dynamics of the blades surface acting like a wing. However, this wing action works in a circle, lifting up, down, left & right. The only differences I could figure was the clean water and density on the blades in the lower swing. Shaft angle may help some also. Here is where a little extra performance may be found. My above comments have been towards; factory specs (diameter) and less sales propaganda. Vikings door are still open and support great. No comments on what they suggest yet. Here in the swamps, all kinds of snake oil has been tried on near anything that floats. We can't re-invent the wheel, but we can keep it clean with correct pressure was our lesson.
I thought 4 blades give a smoother ride while 3 blades give a better bite for better maneuvering to your slip.
4 blades do offer less vibration. Not sure about better maneuvering but a good 3 blade is faster. Check #3 & 15 above.
Not sure who your thanking. If what you have 4 blade wheels; please offer some specs and performance numbers to help the thread.
I have 4 bladed wheels now but pitch is way off....on list of things to do..original boat specs were 3 blades at 31 kts... I will be happy with mid 20s with the 4 blades
20P is correct...had to start somewhere as the blades were all out of whack from a grounding at speed when the mathers ZF throttles failed to pull back...I now figure a 24P would be closer to where I need to be on 4 blades...work in progress...I dont have my #s available...but I do remember port hi idle was 2450 and stbd was 3100...a little tall
