The charger is toast. It's usually either the power supply or fuses. LEAVE THE BREAKER OFF. I have seen many Newmar's fail and when they do, they either overcharge the batteries and fry them, or send AC current to the batteries and fry them. Newmar will rebuild your old one but that will take weeks. Ward's Marine Electric is a Newmar dealer in Fort Lauderdale and has almost all of the models in stock, call them Monday morning and overnight it to Boat Harbor. (Or fly there and pick it up, you will have to fax or email them a copy of your cruising permit so you don't pay duty). Disconnect the charger leads from all batteries before changing it, or be super careful you don't short them out on the battery charger when changing it. Get your old one rebuilt and keep it onboard as a spare. On a 2007 boat, I had to replace both Newmar chargers 24v and 12v and then the new 24 volt charger 8 months later started going bad as well. I cannot tell you how many I changed out under warranty around 2004-2007, they seem to have gotten better since then.

Your Cabo has a battery isolator that will allow the engines to charge the house and other banks, but it is slow to charge. The house batteries on your boat are not all that large either. What I would recommend doing in the meantime, is holding the battery parallel down for 5 seconds and getting one started, then wait 2 minutes then get the other one started and let them idle for 30-60 minutes each day to keep the house and other banks charged in the meantime as many things come off of the house bank and also the engine bank a few things do as well.

The Pathfinder is what is switched by your battery parallel switch and that is what allows you to parallel the battery banks together for emergency starting. When you hit the parallel switch on the dash the Pathfinder combines the banks for 5 minutes.

Good to hear everything got fixed. It always seems that you have Murphy's law and only get problems on trips to the Bahamas.

I'd recommend calling Newmar and seeing what they want to rebuild your old one and have that done. I had a 24v 95amp rebuilt by them and it was a little over $600 plus shipping. Yours should cost less.

Hopefully you'll never need it. But, having a backup you can install in an hour on a trip if it goes down compared to the royal inconvenience of not having one might be a blessing one day.
