182-meter Expedition, Research Superyacht By Espen Oeino
YF usually does not focus on yachts this size, we tend to cast our attention on smaller yachts that builders have a better chance of selling to a wider swath of the yachting public. However, once in a while when the opportunity presents itself we will look at insanely large superyachts. One example of this is this 181.6-meter expedition/research superyacht that has been ordered by a Norwegian billionaire. The design is by Espen Oeino and will be built between Norway and Romania. Ultimately, the VARD yard, a member of the Fincantieri will take the credit for the build...

Power will be coming from dual low lower power MTU 12V 2000 M61s but that is her diesel fed generation of power. Home is a hybrid so she also combines electric motors to power the yacht to a useful speed of 9-knots alone using that power source. If Home wants to travel quietly or extend her range she can run on her electric motors and only burn around 12 gallons per hour (GPH). At 12 knots, she should see a range of over 3,700 nautical miles...
