YachtForums: We Know Big Boats!
Burger Boat Company explores un-chartered waters with a big bow boat that’s an ice-breaker in yacht design. Expedition yachts are all the rage with a “form-follows-function” philosophy. With Top Times, form and function collide and sink the notion that bold can’t be beautiful. The result is a spectacular motor yacht that is turning out to be… the shape of things to come.
Top Times represents Burger's first expedition yacht and the first full displacement hull in the company's modern day history. Join us as we take a short trip on a Burger designed for long passages. For the complete review, along with extensive pictures, follow this link.....

Designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg and built by Oceanfast Yachts, Sycara III reflects the late yacht designer’s signature in numerous ways. Whether you’re a yacht enthusiast or a naval architect, Bannenberg’s work is easily recognized by autograph-like design characteristics. Sycara III is one of the last Bannenberg blueprints to roll off the drawing table and into a shipyard. It is one of hundreds of yachts designed by Bannenburg and the third yacht to be designed for the owner of Sycara III, who’s previous yachts included Mercedes I & II, also built by Oceanfast.

Catamarans, Multi-Hulls, Tunnel Boats or “jet ski intakes”… whatever you want to call ‘em, expect to see ‘em propagate like an un-spayed litter. Cats have literally revolutionized powerboat racing and with good reason. They are faster, more stable and more efficient. In recent years, there has been a small pride of cubs trying to pounce on the luxury yacht market, but they have been met with the resistance of a rabid dog. That is… up until now.

The Hargrave 68' Capri is yacht gleaming with elegance and style, designed for rugged, comfortable long range cruising, as well as fashionable onboard entertaining in handsomely defined detail. She is a production yacht, yet precisely customized to suit her owners’ most ardent desires.
There is much more to the Hargrave 68 legend than revealed by a simple boat tale. Think customer loyalty and satisfaction. For example, how many times will an owner come back to the same designer for a new yacht? In the case of Hargrave, the answer can be as many as four. That spells loyalty. This is a story about a man and his dream, and the people who helped him make it come true. But it is also about the experienced yachstmen who bought those boats, and who speak volumes about his company...

Sunseeker, formerly known as Poole Powerboats, a British company based in Poole, England, began manufacturing boats under the Sunseeker name in the 1980’s. An appropriate name for a boat built in England. Given their weather, they generally have to seek sun elsewhere!
For many boaters, the name Sunseeker is as recognizable as a soft drink trademark. In the states, this can be attributed to an aggressive and successful marketing campaign, but it is primarily due to Sunseeker’s contemporary designs that instantly ignite interest wherever they are seen...

Built with redundancy in mind, the Cape Horn 82' Trideck Expedition Yacht was designed to withstand the most grueling passages. A heavy gauge, double-planked steel hull is utilized to ensure safety in the shallows, while adding to the displaced weight beneath the waterline. This results in increased ballast and greater sea-keeping stability. To offset the weight of Cape Horn's hull, the superstructure is constructed from aluminum, which helps aids in reducing roll momentum.
Sea keeping stability on this yacht is also a by-product of a hard chine with active & passive bilge keel stabilization. A bulb is incorporated to add sub-surface length, which helps reduce pitching and its large expedition bow helps disperse spray in North Sea conditions. This provides excellent heavy weather capability and a seakindly motion that helps keep a land-lovers lunch down...

ColorLight was founded around the development of the ColorLight marine searchlight family. It is a totally new technological concept for professional marine applications such as: Navigation/Maneuvering, Search and Rescue, Oil Spill Detection and Helicopter landing. Since start 1996 the ColorLight models have entered onboard about 20 various types of vessels sailing around the globe and the concept is respected by mariners.
The white light performance is outstanding in distance, light value and light beam area. The entire unit swivels up/down and back/forth via a remote control.
The UV-light (blacklight) adds extraordinary valuable features in poor visibility conditions as darkness, fog, rain and snow. Flourescent coated markers, life preservers and other objects can be identified at much greater range in these conditions than traditional white light. In addition, the "blacklight" emits a "beam" that can focus on one object at a great distance...

FloatRail is an interesting method to protect boats from sinking. It is installed inside a small rail just above the water line or hidden in a recess of the hull during boat manufacture.
The complete system is fully patented. It is manufactured from marine grade materials of modular design with scalable architecture. The system is activated manually or automatically. A patented automatic float switch is installed inside the hull. When a boat takes on water and it reaches a preset level, the hydrostatic pressure of the water trips the mechanical valve, which automatically deploys the system.
The FloatRail electronic control system supplements the basic automatic mechanical system. The electronic control system provides self-diagnostics for reliability assurance. It also allows for multiple and redundant sensors and early warnings...
