YachtForums: We Know Big Boats!
Volvo Penta is now launching a new propulsion system for boats – the Volvo Penta IPS (Inboard Performance System).
The new system is proposed to make boats faster, stronger, quieter, cleaner and just as easily maneuverable as a normal passenger car.
In simplified terms, the new system features propellers that are turned in the direction in which the boat is traveling. Volvo Penta has placed pulling and counter-rotating propellers through the bottom of the hull, which provides the boat with significantly improved performance, compared with traditional shaft installations...

WITH ELONGATED BOWL, THE ATLANTES HAS THE COMFORT OF HOME...
For boaters that insist on the comforts of home while onboard, the Atlantes toilet from Raritan is available with an elongated bowl. Its larger seat size is far more comfortable than the standard marine toilet seat.
The residential-sized Atlantes provides an optimal sitting height. Nearly 3" deeper than a standard bowl, the sturdy, oval-shaped toilet offers a supportive, restful sitting area for maximum comfort. The extended rim length makes cleaning easier and improves sanitary conditions.
The electric macerating toilet conserves water through three flush options: normal, water saver and dry flush. It also has an adjustable, automatic timed-flush feature. Easy to clean and maintain, the Atlantes offers consistent, trouble-free performance. All working parts are contained inside the one-piece porcelain bowl for simple, flexible installation above or below the waterline...

CLEAT CHOCKS CATCH THE EYE BUT NOT THE LINE
Stainless-steel cleat chocks from New Found Metals are not only stylish and innovative, but are hand-polished so lines can pass through without danger of chafing. A cleat chock can function as a cleat, a chock or a fairlead.
The chock's horns are offset from the base at a slight angle, to lead the mooring line away from the hull as much as possible. The cleat chock can be mounted inboard or outboard.
Hand-polished cleat chock surfaces, especially the undersides of the horns, ensure uniform smoothness to virtually eliminate friction against secured lines.
The 316 Series comes in three sizes: 8", 10" and 12", with 3/8" x 2" studs on the first two and a ½" x 2" stud on the l2-incher. The smallest chock weighs about 2-1/2 lbs.
MSRP of the cleats starts at $39.95.

THE CABLEMASTER: ShorePower Made Easy
One way a boater can run afoul of the gear when docking or undocking is by wrestling with heavy, soiled, shore-power cables - and maybe wrenching his back in the process. With the touch of a button, Glendinning Marine Products' Cablemaster units will extend, retract and store many different sizes of shore cable, keeping them out of the water and the decks free of excess coils of cable.
Cablemaster comes in three models and can handle 30- to 200-amp cables. Time-tested Cablemasters, widely accepted by major yacht manufacturers worldwide, handle cables up to 2 inches (50 mm) in outside diameter.
Unlike industrial reels, the Cablemaster system does not carry shore power through slips rings or brushes, which can be susceptible to moisture or corrosion in a harsh marine environment...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Platinum SuperYachts has signed a definitive agreement with a private lending group to provide the company with $16 million in funding, the company said in a release yesterday.

This is the culmination of management’s continued commitment to build the company into a world-class yacht builder, while focusing on and finalizing specific acquisition targets, Platinum said.

It seems Hatteras planned to top-off their new 80’ motoryacht with an enclosed flybridge all along. While new skylounge models sometimes look like after-thoughts, the new Hatteras 80’ looks like it was designed from the top… down. Exactly the view this new yacht offers and exactly the position Hatteras has enjoyed for decades as America’s premiere, production yacht builder.
The new 80’ Skylounge, sports a European flair, but that’s where the similarities end. This is an all–American motoryacht, built with one thing in mind… to build on the success that has made Hatteras a household name. Take a tour with us on a yacht that is best described as... the “Top Hat”...

CELLTEC, manufacturer of computerized marine battery monitoring systems, has just introduced its high-tech CELLSTAT SW1 Marine Battery Switch that monitors battery and alternator performance—and even warns of failure before it happens.
Containing a microprocessor using a patented System-on-Chip technology, the SW1 performs a load test on the battery at every engine start and monitors alternator output and the level of battery charge. Bright, multi-colored LEDs on the monitor's face display the test results. A Master Warning Indicator with light and audible alarm is included for remote mounting at the helm or other location.
The CELLSTAT SW1 is constructed of UV-resistant nylon and can be easily surface-mounted in or near the battery compartment. The monitor's modest power consumption in standby creates an insignificant battery draw...

Designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg and built by Oceanfast Yachts, Sycara III reflects the late yacht designer’s signature in numerous ways. Whether you’re a yacht enthusiast or a naval architect, Bannenberg’s work is easily recognized by autograph-like design characteristics. Sycara III is one of the last Bannenberg blueprints to roll off the drawing table and into a shipyard. It is one of hundreds of yachts designed by Bannenburg and the third yacht to be designed for the owner of Sycara III, who’s previous yachts included Mercedes I & II, also built by Oceanfast.

Catamarans, Multi-Hulls, Tunnel Boats or “jet ski intakes”… whatever you want to call ‘em, expect to see ‘em propagate like an un-spayed litter. Cats have literally revolutionized powerboat racing and with good reason. They are faster, more stable and more efficient. In recent years, there has been a small pride of cubs trying to pounce on the luxury yacht market, but they have been met with the resistance of a rabid dog. That is… up until now.

The Hargrave 68' Capri is yacht gleaming with elegance and style, designed for rugged, comfortable long range cruising, as well as fashionable onboard entertaining in handsomely defined detail. She is a production yacht, yet precisely customized to suit her owners’ most ardent desires.
There is much more to the Hargrave 68 legend than revealed by a simple boat tale. Think customer loyalty and satisfaction. For example, how many times will an owner come back to the same designer for a new yacht? In the case of Hargrave, the answer can be as many as four. That spells loyalty. This is a story about a man and his dream, and the people who helped him make it come true. But it is also about the experienced yachstmen who bought those boats, and who speak volumes about his company...
