Three months after taking over as the new owner of Broward Yachts in Dania Beach, Tom Lewis announced that the company will build three new lines of yachts ranging from 120 feet to 160 feet. The newly designed Broward Yacht models, priced from $10 million to $20 million, are the main element in the new owner's plan to revive the boatyard as one of America’s premier builders of megayachts. Lewis is a real estate developer from Miami who bought the 10-acre yard in March after leasing a Broward yacht and later deciding to buy one for himself.
Founded more than five decades ago, the boatyard, formerly called Broward Marine Inc., was one of the first producers of megayachts. In recent years, however, production and sales at the yard, which has made more than 200 yachts, have fallen off. Other South Florida companies build yachts and smaller boats, but Broward Yachts is the area's only producer of megayachts, or luxury vessels measuring 80 feet or larger...

Domani, which is Italian for “tomorrow”, is reminiscent of an old Italian song that which urges us to relax and live well. In this instance, “Domani” arrives as one of Benetti’s most recent “Visions”.

After returning to the dock from an enjoyable day on the water, more than one skipper has overlooked switching off accessories such as the blower or bilge pump. A programmable alarm from Water Witch takes the worry out of a dead battery or equipment damage by providing a reminder for the forgetful captain.
Water Witch's PA300-series programmable alarms can be wired directly to any accessory that might be left on accidentally. The alarm contains an electronic, audible timer with adjustable preset times of 1-15 minutes. This time interval is easily selected at the touch of a button on the front panel.
When the preset time period expires, a stainless steel, piezo buzzer sounds and continues to pulse until it is shut off or muted. If the mute button on the front panel is pressed, the buzzer is silenced and the timer automatically resets. If the accessory or device is turned off, the PA300 shuts off automatically.

“Windrose of Amsterdam” attempts record transatlantic crossing...
“Windrose”, the 152 ft schooner designed by Gerard Dijkstra, built by Holland Jachtbouw Zaandam, will attempt to beat her 2002 record for a transatlantic schooner crossing this spring. The bid to challenge the record will be made during the Rolex Transatlantic Challenge 2005, organised by the New York Yacht Club. The start is scheduled for 22 May in New York. After a race of almost 3000 sea miles, the race finishes at the Lizard in South England.
“Windrose” made her record-breaking crossing in 11 days, 10 hours, and 25 minutes. This trimmed one day off the 98-year-old schooner record set by legendary captain Charley Barr in the schooner Atlantic in 1905. With which “Windrose” outstripped the oldest sailing record. The “Windrose” record is acknowledged by the World Sailing Speed Record Council.

4th-Generation Side-Power Controls
include two new “intelligent” panels.
New Bedford, MA -- Imtra Corporation proudly introduces two new round control panels for Side-Power bow thrusters. These elegant, yet intuitive, dashboard units are designed to make intelligent and safe operation even easier.
One panel (#8955) is touch-actuated: simply press the arrow and that’s the direction the bow swings. The other (#8965) uses a chromed boat as a joystick: push its bow in one direction and that’s where the bow thruster will move the boat’s bow.
Both panels incorporate all the standard safety features as well as a few improved features. An internal timer automatically shuts off the bow thruster six minutes after its last use, so that it cannot inadvertently be used after departure or docking. This combines with a “Dual On” set of buttons which initiate operation; it’s virtually instantaneous but offers the safety of deliberate intention...

HULL CLEANER SPRAYS OFF DIRT AND STAINS...
Capt. Chomp Hull Cleaner is the proverbial 600-pound gorilla—obliterating hull stains and everything else in its path—but not harming human skin, clothing fabric, antifouling paint or gelcoat.
Using organic salt technology and a patented surfactant system, the cleaner contains no harmful chemicals. Its cleaning performance is nearly identical to products containing hydrochloric and phosphoric acids. But Chomp Hull Cleaner is so mild that it can be sprayed directly on the skin without danger of irritation or burning.
Its spray-and-rinse formula is effective against rust, calcium, water, scum and algae. But the cleaner’s non-toxic and non-reactive formula will not damage, discolor or etch hull surfaces made of fiberglass, metal or wood. And Chomp Hull Cleaner will ease a boater's concerns about the ecology, too.
Since it requires no special handling or storage, the cleaner can even be shipped DOT Class 55...
