CMN 60-meter "Slipstream" leaves Cherbourg
After being rolled out of the CMN finishing shed on the 3rd of March and splashed four days later, the 60-meter "Slipstream" has been officially delivered to the client. On May 14, 2009 the new yacht - which is a near sister to the "Cloud 9" - left Cherbourg, France for her new life.
"Slipstream said goodbye to Cherbourg and headed South for Gilbraltar. A deep emotion was perceptible at CMN slipway among the CMN staff that came to bid Slipstream farewell. Her sister ship Cloud 9 should soon follow the same route."
The new Slipstream was designed by Andrew Winch Designs. She can accommodate up to 14 guests onboard. To power her steel hull and aluminum superstructure through the water, the Slipstream employs 2 X CAT 3516B Rating C marine engines.
These engines are anticipated to power her to 15.2 knots and give her a 5,000 NM range and above at slower speeds...
Delta Marine Launches 151-foot "Katya"
Delta Marine recently launched their latest megayacht, the 151-foot long "Katya". The all composite yacht has been built to a design by Delta Design Group. The interior was formulated by Delta and Jean Claude Canestrelli.
The 427 (half load) tonne luxury yacht is rated to have a maximum speed of 15.5 knots. Powered by 2 X CAT 3508B engines, a 5,000 nautical mile range can be achieved at a cruising speed of 12 knots. This will give her guests almost infinite globe-trekking possibilities.
Inside, Katya's 31-foot beam allows for a relatively spacious environment. A maximum of 12 guests will enjoy a luxurious interior, while 10 crew members will look after the yacht and her guests.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Quantum Marine Engineering is pleased to announce the award of a contract to engineer, design, supply and support the roll stabilization systems for the U.S. Coast Guard's new class of Fast Response Cutters designated as the WPC project. Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. is the prime contractor for this new class of cutters.
Quantum's selection as the supplier for the stabilization, according to Bollinger, was based on the company's design, weight control, previous experience and excellent responsiveness and professional approach to meet the customer's requirements. The contract calls for up to 34 of these new ships to be built and delivered to the USCG over a multi-year contract...

Proteksan & Turquoise 70-meter motoryacht
Turkish yard Proteksan and Turquoise has another 70-meter yacht under construction. Designed by H2 Yacht Design, she is a sleek contemporary conceptualization. Additionally, her arrangement allows for a balanced and proportioned design.
The Owner's suite is located to the fore of the main deck with full panoramic windows wrapping a little more than 180-degrees. The room features large foreroom that comprises large centrally placed bed along the center-line. Aft on the port-side is the owner's bath. The rest of the main deck features cinema, formal dining room and spacious saloon.
Additionally, there is a VIP room on the starboard side, just aft of the owner's suite. Gym and staff rooms also make up other spaces on this deck. Below, on the lower deck, the bulk of the accommodation is located. Guest rooms are strategically placed near the amidships region for comfort...
CRN launches 60-meter "Blue Eyes"
A new launching ceremony at the CRN shipyard, held on Saturday, May 9th, saw a flurry of blue confetti rain down on the 60-metre "Blue Eyes", hull number 126 of the Ancona shipyard. The inspiring ceremony, open to all the people of the city, took place against the charming backdrop of a warm spring sunset.
More than a thousand admirers were able to get an up-close look at the resplendent blue hull of BLUE EYES. Numerous well known Italian business figures were on hand to witness the moment in person, including Brunello Cucinelli, Ettore Riello, Colaiacovo and Zeno Soave, not to mention the fashion designer Alberta Ferretti, as well as Ancona's top city officials...
JFA Launches 90-foot Motor-Sailer
The Shipyard JFA has launched a motor sailer of 90'. The naval architects are Joubert - Nivelt - Goeffers and the designer is Dick Young Designs. The hull reminds us of a Motor Yacht but it is a sailing boat, Lloyd’s register and MCA compliant, fitted with 2 carbon masts.
This mixed boat will arrange a roomy inside layout area for a sailing boat of this size. On the upper deck in the fore part, there is a salon fitted in the inside wheelhouse which would be large and luminous thanks to the large picture windows. The aft part is fitted with a dining room with a bar/kitchenette.
On the lower deck, the crew has its cabin and a professional galley. The owner's cabin is located on the same deck but in the center of the boat, using the complete beam. It is a cabin that can look out over the sea thanks to large portholes. The fore part lays out with 2 twin cabins and a large cabin with a double bed...
Proteksan & Turquoise launches "Sequel P"
Proteksan & Turquoise shipyard launched a new yacht on the 2nd of May 2009 at their facility in Turkey. The 54.7-meter long "Sequel P" left the shed and headed to the water. Hull NB50 (Sequel P) was launched not too long after "Leo Fun" which was launched last month and has now been delivered.
Sequel P features 2 X CAT 3512B 2X1911 / 1500 BHP/RPM engines that power her to a top speed of 16 knots. A cruising speed of around 14 knots is also expected. Continuous cruising at 14 knots will give her a range of 3,500 NM while 2 knots slower, her range is significantly increased to 4,500 NM.
Her aluminum superstructure and steel hull spans a maximum width of 9.30-meters or 30.69-feet. This surely will enhance the interior experience. Sequel P also has a finished draft of 3.10-meters or just over 10-feet. When completed, she is expected to weigh 650 tonnes...

Perini Navi launches 56-meter ketch "Riela"
Saturday, April 25th, the 46th unit in the Perini Navi fleet was launched: SY "Riela", a 56m aluminum ketch. Designed by Perini Navi’s in-house naval architects together with New Zealander Ron Holland, SY Riela, boasts an ultra-light streamlined aluminum hull with maximum displacement optimized at 545 tons in order to guarantee both sailing performance and comfort. Both masts, the 58.8m main mast and the 48.26m mizzen, are also in aluminum, while the furling boom is in carbon fiber. Total sail area is expected to reach 1,500 m².
The interiors, designed by Remi Tessier, are based on luxury and elegance combined with contemporary style, which is reflected in the use of a wide and rich variety of precious and refined materials; woods such as macassar, ebony, wengè, teak and leather.
Riela is the seventh 56m sailing yacht launched by Perini Navi...
New Launch: Moonen 124' Motoryacht
Largest Splash in Moonen's History
On Saturday, the 25th of April, 2009, the longest, highest-displacement yacht Moonen Shipyards has built, the 38-metre Moonen 124, was brought out of the construction hall and launched into the Lek River. She had been under construction in Moonen’s Groot-Ammers hall since 3 May 2008, when her steel hull and aluminium superstructure were delivered by barge, then welded together.
During the same period, Moonen also rebuilt the 60-metre Groot-Ammers hall, adding new structural elements and insulation, fully equipping and preparing it for the construction or refit of yachts up to 150 feet (about 46 metres) LOA. The move of the yacht - displacing about 275 metric tons in light-ship condition - was accomplished by a Saan transporter with more than 150 independently controlled wheels...
Lurssen launches 110-meter Project "Darius"
In the early afternoon of April 27, 2009, Lurssen Shipyards in Bremen Germany launched the second 110-meter yacht from their facility. The first yacht of similar length was "Dilbar" and she was launched and delivered in 2008. The second yacht was launched yesterday under the Project name "Darius".
Darius in general conception holds the design of her sister, Dilbar. She has a designed penned by Tim Heywood and an interior by Glenn Pushelberg. Darius features a grey hull and white supersturcture. Various hatches detail the hull for relaxation platforms and tender garages. Pods located outside of what could be the owner's deck adds yet more detail.
When this yacht is delivered in the Summer of 2009, she will join her Dilbar on the high seas. Darius is one of three large yachts that Lurssen will launch in 2009. "Arkely" will launch in June 2009...

Cantieri di Pisa launches the first example of its new Akhir 118’ model. "Nena", the first Cantieri di Pisa yacht ever to feature a metallized grey hull, was launched in Pisa on Saturday 21st February. Built entirely of fiberglass, Nena is 36 meters long and almost 7.5 meters abeam. Her dynamic, sleek lines reflect the great Akhir tradition, and are accentuated by two short strip openings above and below the dark hull-length band, allowing the creation of nine windows for the owner’s suite!
Her interior styling, by Cantieri di Pisa's own interior designers, is clean yet traditional. The decorative concept is based on the elegance of sanded teak with a wax effect, included in a modern scheme of boiserie that has been given a new interpretation. Here precious fabrics on the wall panels create a warm and hospitable environment, which is blended with a rigorous aesthetic...

Palmer Johnson 267' "World" Expedition
Palmer Johnson is preparing to take on the world with a 267' Ice Class expedition yacht designed by Nuvolari & Lenard, aptly named the "World". Having acquired the Norwegian shipyard Flekkefjord Slipp & Maskinfabrikk’s, who specialized in building complex seismic, research and exploration vessels, PJ has now positioned themselves to build "world" class expedition yachts.
Exemplifying this approach - and specific to the PJ World Yacht - a Rolls Royce UT hull will be optimized to a Diesel-Electric Azipull Propulsion system to facilitate multiple operational parameters. This design is said to reduce the loss of speed in head seas, reduce vibration and keep noise levels in check, while improving the vessel’s maneuverability and control. It also contributes to the vessel’s “Clean Class” notification...
Perini Navi showcases 335-foot dyna-rig design
After the successful design, construction, delivery and proven performance of the dyna-rig equipped 289-foot "Maltese Falcon", a larger yacht design has been formulated. This new design is 335-feet long and is featuring the dyna-rig that the Maltese Falcon uses.
Her maximum beam is to spread up to 16.3-meters allowing ample deck and interior space especially mid-ships. 6.5-meters will be her minimum draft with the keel up. This steel hull and aluminum superstructure construction will be powered by 2 X CAT 3516C rated engines.
Her maximum speed is being envisioned to be in the region of 19.5 knots. She has the build number C.2175 and will feature a range of covered and opened spaces for her guests. The aft cockpit on the main deck is sure to be a cozy area for informal experiences, whole the sun deck, aft, is open air and features a centrally placed pool/jacuzzi...
Delta Debuts A New Build...

Delta, a world-leader in yacht building, has combined its expertise in composite construction with steel and aluminum hull fabrication to open a new yard dedicated to metal hull construction. The new facility, Delta North, is located just down river from Delta’s current 25-acre site and consists of a high-bay building roughly 400’ long x 100’ wide. This fully enclosed facility allows Delta to build metal hulls over 100-meters in length.
The 'Delta North' site had been previously used for building ferries and tugs, and had the high overheads and rugged utility infrastructure needed for large scale commercial shipbuilding. Last year, Delta took this facility and renovated it into a modern, fully equipped ship yard...
