Feadship launches 75.75-meter "Ocean Victory"​

The Makkum yard of Koninklijke De Vries Sheepsbouw, which opened in 2005, has completed its first full custom Feadship. The 75.75 meter (248'.6'') "Ocean Victory" was launched on the 18 October 2008 in the presence of hundreds of invited guests and following a spectacular laser show.

Built by Feadship's dedicated hull-building facility in Papendrecht (NL), the steel hull of Ocean Victory was delivered to Makkum in July 2007. Two months later, the lowest layer of the aluminum superstructure was fitted and the De Vries Makkum craftsmen had just 13 months to complete the project, which is among the largest Feadships ever built.

Entertainment is the name of the game on the Ocean Victory, which includes a dedicated twelve-person cinema, dining facilities on the outside decks for 32 people...

Wally's Dynamic Stabilization System​

Wally Introduces 64' Wally Power​

Monaco – The first unit of the 64 wallypower stands out for her unmistakable Wally design as well as for her metallic blue striking colour. This new model of the Wally power range was highly acclaimed by the market: the boat was sold as soon as she arrived at the Monaco Yacht Show where she made her debut.

This 19-meter yacht represents the transition between the WallyTender and the larger WallyPower yachts. The design fully exploits the concept of integrating form and function, and combining large interior volumes with high performance, excellent sea keeping, and wide open air areas.

The model comes with different choices for the propulsion, for the interior layout, and for the exterior and interior styling. The production schedule provides for five units of the 64 wallypower to be launched in 2009...

Burger and S&S to Develop Motorsailors​

October 27, 2008: Burger Boat Company and Sparkman & Stephens are pleased to announce a newly formed collaboration to design and build custom aluminum motorsailers.

Heralding a return to traditional elegance with decidedly modern performance, these vessels will continue the proud heritage that was developed with the construction of the first Sparkman & Stephens designed aluminum yawl built by Burger Boat Company in 1957.

Sparkman & Stephens has a long history of motorsailer design; over 50 designed in 78 years, starting in 1933 with the design of Tamerlane and culminating with a string of very successful motorsailers including Osprey, Sea Angel, Freedom, Galileo, Astral, Mayslyph and Timoneer. These boats are still very active today, sailing the world over.

Perini Navi Launches 50-meter "Baracuda"​

Saturday, October 18th, the 46th unit in the Perini Navi fleet was launched: SY "Baracuda", 50m aluminum ketch. Designed by Perini Navi’s in-house naval architects together with New Zealander Ron Holland, SY Baracuda features many important project innovations.

The aluminum hull is marked by an aggressive, aerodynamic line, emphasized by an unconventional color: metallic grey with shades of gold, which combines with the silvery reflections of the superstructure. This contemporary appeal is also echoed in the portholes, which have been revisited in an unusual rectangular shape.

Thanks to its canting keel, draft passes from 4m (13ft) to 9.7m (32ft)...

"The Richmond 142 foot series has been a popular model and has yielded known names such as "Status Quo" and "Sun Chaser". The continuation of the production series will be in the format of the upcoming launch of the fifth hull, "Richmond Lady".

The 270 tonne semi-displacement vessel is on course for launch in August 2008. A generous beam of just under 30-feet adds to the spaciousness of this Richmond model. With a minimum draught of approximately 6.5-feet, coves, marinas and sanctuaries will always be options.

Inside the Richmond Lady, 6 staterooms will accommodate up to 12 guests. Eight heads will service the guests of these rooms. Interior styling has been created by Pavlik while the exterior styling by Ward Setzer.

Abu Dhabi Mar Debuts at Monaco​

The Abu Dhabi MAR Shipyard made its global debut at the recent Monaco Yacht Show where the Abu Dhabi MAR team revealed the latest details of the two spectacular gigayachts currently under construction at the all-new shipyard. At 141 and 135 metres LOA, they are among the world’s longest private yachts under construction and upon launch will rank high among the world’s Top 100 Yachts.

Both yachts are based on the hulls of former Royal Dutch Navy frigates, whose design incorporating narrow beam, high propulsion power and futuristic styling by the Pierrejean Design Studio in Paris, assures they will be fast, impressive additions to the expansive gigayacht world. The first yacht to be launched will be the Swift141, set for mid-2009 delivery; the second, the Swift135, will be launched 18 months later...

Milan, October 7th, 2008 – Luca Cordero di Montezemolo has commissioned the construction of the Morgan Yachts flagship, the Fast Commuter Morgan 93, which will be delivered in the summer of 2009.

Luca Cordero di Montezemolo, the former president of Confindustria, is at present President of FIAT Spa, President of Ferrari Spa and the Libera Università Internazionale degli Studi Sociali (LUISS). As a protagonist of both the automotive and design worlds, he has chosen a Fast Commuter which is worldwide unique. Morgan, in fact, is one of the few shipyards that still builds these classic megayachts which were used by New York tycoons to commute from Manhattan to Long Island during the period between the end of the 19th Century and WW II...

Tò-Kalòn, a contemporary-styled custom 101′-06″ Enclosed Bridge Motor Yacht, is built
for speed for an experienced yachting family from the United States. The Burger Design
Team joined forces with Cor D. Rover Design as the exterior stylist and Donald L. Blount &
Associates to develop a vessel that is both elegant and technologically advanced. Tò-Kalòn
incorporates extensive use of strong, lightweight materials and carefully calculated design
and engineering parameters. Tò-Kalòn is fully ABS certified.​

Tò-Kalòn’s interior revolves around the Sapele paneling with accents of Sapele Pomele which flows throughout the Main Deck Salon and guest accommodations providing the perfect background for traditional furnishings...

Proteksan & Turquoise completes 53-meter trawler "Vinydrea"​

The trawler yacht with steel hull and aluminum superstructure, capable of undertaking voyages of discovery across the world’s oceans, has been styled and designed by Paolo Caliari with the contribution of the shipyard’s own naval architects.

Jean Guy Verges has designed the interior; which will feature accommodation for 12 guests and as many crew. Built to ABS class and fully MCA compliant, the yacht will achieve 16 knots powered by twin Caterpillar 3512B engines, each producing 1,750hp. Her fuel-carrying capacity of 100,000 liters ensures that she will not need too many pit stops along the way.
