JFA launches 43-meter Expedition Yacht
French yard JFA recently launched their latest yacht. JFA is known for the building of the "Bystander", "Zeepaard" (ex. "Axantha") and many other expedition and explorer styled yachts. The newest launch is also of the expedition type and measures 43-meters in length.
Built under the hull identification 22C, she is of all aluminum construction. If she looks familiar, that might be as a result of her design inspiration from the 2003-built Zeepaard (ex. Axantha). The new yacht is essentially an enlarged version. She is designed by Vripack and built to Lloyds and is MCA compliant.
The new launch can be economically sailed as far as 4,500 nautical miles at just over 10 knots. She mounts dual Cummins QSK-19M engines with a total horse power of 1500. Ten to eleven guests can be accommodated in five cabins, inclusive of the Master stateroom...
Cheoy Lee complete Serenity 90' Expedition
On February 28th, Cheoy Lee handed over a Serenity 90 Expedition yacht to her new owner who was upgrading from his previous yacht, a Cheoy Lee Serenity 68 based in Adelaide, Australia. Construction was at Cheoy Lee’s 33 acre plant in Doumen, China with delivery at Cheoy Lee’s smaller shipyard in Hong Kong.
The 90’ is fitted with a pair of continuously rated Caterpillar C18 diesels, developing 600 horse power at 1800 rpm. A 3.6:1 ZF reduction gearbox allows for a slow turning large diameter propeller, offering excellent fuel efficiency at cruising speed. At full load, at an easy 1200 rpm, the yacht runs at over 10knots, consuming only 13 gallons per hour. Combined with 4,850 gallons of fuel, the yacht has a range of 3500 nautical miles at 10 knots, and considerably more at reduced speed. Maximum speed is 14 knots.
A total of 12 guests can be comfortably accommodated in five staterooms...

Amels sells first Limited Editions 199
Amels announced the sale of the first Amels Limited Edition 199. The 199 is well underway in construction already and the Tim Heywood design has caught the attention of a new owner. In fact the owner is not new to Amels as they are a repeat customer. The Limited Editions 199 features a plumb bow almost reminiscent from Amels' Sea Axe line but a number of custom features have been outlined by the owner to be incorporated into the design.
An enclosed lounge will be built on the sun deck, normally where a hard top would have been as seen on most of the Limited Edition models. Fold down balconies on either side of the main formal dining room are to be made to allow better views while dining. Another notable feature will be the touch-and-go helipad to be located on forward deck just aft of the forecastle area...
Lurssen Delivers 68.15m Superyacht "Hermitage"
"Hermitage" was the last of a number of launches in 2010 for top German yacht builder Lurssen. She was launched around Autumn 2010 and has now been delivered although formal delivery was slated for April 2011.
Hermitage represents another one of the custom and different luxury yachts coming out of the facilities at Lurssen. Her design has been penned by Espen Oeino and has an interior by Andrew Winch Designs. Project management was by ***** Yacht & Ship.
Hermitage sleeps as many as twelve guests in her guest accommodation layout. Six cabins exist to house guests onboard this 68-meter luxury yacht. She is an impressive 42-feet wide and has a maximum draught in the region of 12-feet. Hermitage is finished in the almost now traditional white with black masked windows and accent structures...
Numarine debuts 102-foot RPH
Numarine announces the debut of their 102-foot Raised Pilot House model in the Middle Easter Region. The yacht has been presented at both the Dubai and the Abu Dhabi Yacht shows to much the delight of the general public. She is a stylish yachts with quality finishes and state-of-the-art technology.
The 102' RPH is an impressive, beautifully designed and lovingly built high-performance superyacht. Proteksan & Turquoise launch 60.20-meter "Yogi"
Top Turkish yacht builder Proteksan & Turquoise are rolling in the vein of success. They launched another yacht from their facilities recently. The 60.20-meter "Yogi" or build number 'NB49' was launched early in March. She follows the successful launching of the the 'NB52' "Turquoise" in January.
Yogi was built in steel and aluminum with an exterior design done jointly by Proteksan & Turquoise and Guy Verges. Jean Guy Verges also worked on the interior of Yogi. When completed she will be available for charter in the Summer period of 2011 in the Mediterranean.
The light two-toned 60-meter yacht will feature charter essentials such as large jacuzzi and pool! The pool, located on the extreme aft of the main deck has a circular glass bottom that funnels natural light directly below deck to a beach club. As many as twelve guests can be accommodated in six well appointed cabins...
Kingship unveils Ocean SUV series
Kingship shipyards based in Hong Kong unveiled a new series of yachts known as the Ocean SUV. The reason why they are known as the Ocean SUV is because the series of yachts independently mirror many of the functional and practical characteristics of an SUV. They are long range expedition styled luxury motor yachts. The three yachts in the series range in size from 90-feet to 148-feet.
The range on these yachts are expected to be phenomenal. The 90-footer showcases a range in 5,000 nautical miles while the 116-footer is at 7,500 nautical miles and the 148-footer with an astounding range of near 10,000 nautical miles. Unlike the land-based SUV they are being likened to, these yachts in the series are not overly large comsumers of fuel.
The uncluttered exterior is frill free, easy to maintenance and offers passengers a high vintage point from which to view the passing scenery...

It has a superfine entry for less resistance and a spray chine to reduce wetted surface area and create a small amount of lift. Rossi Navi 74-meter mega yacht
Italian yacht builder Rossi Navi is set to build a 74-meter mega yacht for completion in 2013. Naval Architecture is by Giovanni Arrabito while the exterior and interior styling and design are by Team 4 Design.
Expect eighteen guests to be slept aboard in nine lavish staterooms and cabins. Those nine rooms include seven double cabins, one VIP and a master stateroom The crew of twenty will have their own cabins away from the guest areas.
The Rossi Navi 74-meter will employ twin CAT 3512B-DITA marine diesels slated to power her to 16.5 knots. From 220,000 LT capacity fuel tanks she is expected to manage a 5,000 nautical mile continuous range at around 12 knots. She will have a steel hull and aluminum superstructure.
A spacious interior is expected aided by a maximum 13.60-meter beam. The draught at full load should be in the region of 3.30-meters...
Westport launches eighth 164' motor yacht "Wabi Sabi"
American yacht builder Westport has launched another yacht from it's Westport 164-foot line. The latest is the eighth in the series and is called "Wabi Sabi". She is designed by Donald Starkey inside and out and has naval architecture by William Garden.
She is very similar to her sisters in the line and feature mirrored statistics. At 12 knots Wabi Sabi can knock up over 5,000 nautical miles. Powered by a pair of MTU 16V 4000 diesels to give her a top speed of 24 knots. A cruising speed of 22 knots is expected and with sea trials iminent, these figures will be confirmed.
Wabi Sabi will be able to sleep as many as twelve guests in her six cabins. These are arranged in a Master, a VIP, four double cabins. She is another case of large scale lamination with her GRP construction but still keeping her under the 500 ton range...
CBI Navi launches 50-meter "Afios"
Built in steel and aluminum, this 50-meter displacement luxury yacht is the latest offering from CBI Navi. An overall beam of 9.00-meters compliment the light, modern and contemporary interior by Studio Vafiadis. The exterior is also by Studio Vafiadis with naval architecture by Hydro Tec.
Her name is "Afios" and she was launched today at the CBI Navi yard in Viareggio. Dual MTU 16V 4000 M9 engines power Afios to an anticipated top speed of 22 knots. At 12 knots she should have a range in the region of 1,800 nautical miles. Cruise speed is about 20 knots for the Afios. There are 85,000 LT capacity fuel tanks onboard and also provisions for storage of 12,000 LT of fresh water.
Her main tender is stored aft on the lower deck across the beam with a smaller rescue/crew tender on the bow. There is lots of seating on this 50-meter...
New Build; Nedship 101 sloop
This new build in Turkey is earmarked for early 2012. Being built by Nedship, the composite made vessel will feature a sloop rig and a design by Andre Hoek. Four guest staterooms will be available and three cabins for the crew. Like many sloop designs she will feature a raised saloon to allow natural light into the sunken saloon below.
The Nedship 101 offers more volume and a lighter displacement on comparing yachts on the market this size. Using Composite materials as epoxy and carbon, the 101 will achieve great success in competitions and will be an attraction in each marina.
Aft of the main living area is the crew mess, galley and three crew cabins. A second layout solution offers the guest accommodation in the aft section and the crew in the forward areas. The Project already has started so that a delivery is more advanced.

Heesen launches 50-meter "Satori"
Dutch yacht builder Heesen has once again marked another milestone by launching another luxury yacht. The new yacht is a 50-meter semi displacement yacht named "Satori". The all-white yacht is one of the new designs out of the 50-meter platform developed and her lines are simply proportionately stunning.
On the interior, French star designer Remi Tessier went wild creating his minimalist and chic design. The interior is a sophisticated mix of browns from the Zebrano wood as well as tans and whites from leather fabrics. The design is carried throughout most of the interior including the cabins. Satori can accommodate ten guests comfortably in five cabins. One master, two VIP type cabins and two twins.
Back on the outside, those sinuous external design lines were drawn up by Omega Yacht Design...
Couach launches 37-meter yacht "Arion"
Another unit of the Couach 37-meter series has been just launched. This is the sixth unit for the popular line of sports-styled yachts. She is the first launch by Couach for 2011. "Arion" is her name and has been designed by the Couach's in-house design team in conjunction with Exequiel Cano Lanza.
On the inside, Arion depicts an interior conceptualized by Ken Freivokh. She has the ability to sleep up to nine guests comfortably inside of four cabins. In addition, five crew members will reside in four crew cabins. Mechanically Arion mounts a pair of 2,735 horse power MTU engines capable of boosting her to 28 knots. Finishing and trials are all that are left to be completed for the Arion. Couach is also working on launching their first 5000 model, the flagship model of the offered range...
Alloy Yachts launch 67.20-meter "Vertigo"
New Zealand top yacht manufacturer Alloy Yachts have just launched the very secret 67.20-meter yachts known as AY41 under construction. Of course she is also known by her the name revealed last year, "Vertigo". Interestingly, the launching of Vertigo comes on the heels of an 6.3 magnitude earthquake that rocked parts of New Zealand.
Vertigo is indeed of massive proportions, boasting an LOA of just over 67-meters, that's just over 220-feet long and makes her among some of the largest sail yachts in the world. At this length, she comes with a more than decent 12.53-meter overall beam and an impressive maximum draft of 9.10-meters. However, she can reduce that draft to about 5-meters for trolling shallower waters.
The Vertigo's build story started around October 2008 making her build schedule just about 29 months...
Diverse Projects complete and deliver "Black Pearl"
The well attended "Black Pearl" christening and official handover took place on January 22. The relaxed gathering was held at Auckland’s viaduct, overlooking the vessel. Festivities included a blessing of the vessel, champagne over the bow, speeches over lunch and the opportunity for guests to take a look onboard. A very common theme in speeches and discussions was the very high standard of finish and quality throughout this vessel.
"Black Pearl" is a 31.50-meter displacement yacht with the possibility of cruising extended ranges. The design of Black Pearl was penned by Lomocean Design and the interior work envisioned and executed by Chris Connell Design. The interior is based on neutral tones with hints of bright splashes in the throw cushions.
The Black Pearl is powered by twin CAT C-18-ACERT engines. Top speed is 13 knots...
Proteksan & Turquoise launches 55.40-mter "Turquoise"
Turkish top yacht manufacturer Proteksan & Turquoise launched their latest yacht at the very end of January. The new yacht is the displacement 55.40-meter "Turquoise". If that name sounds familiar, it might be as a result of the old Turquoise that is currently known as "La Naturalle Dee". So, the new Turquoise is the successor to the 1994-built boat by the same yard.
The newly built yacht was constructed under the hull ID NB52. The 650 ton yacht was designed by Dubois Naval Architects. Six staterooms await up to twelve guests. Four double cabins are located on the lower deck while a VIP type cabin and the Master Stateroom are both situated on the main deck.
Turquoise features twin 1,500 horse power engines expected to enable her to a top speed of 17 knots when tested on trials...
Delta Marine's 47.50-meter "Rochade"
Delta Marine was scheduled to launch the 47.50-meter "Rochade" very early in 2011. The new yacht from the American builder was built in GRP materials with design all-round by Delta's in-house team. The interior is of a modern contemporary style.
She can sleep up to twelve guests in five cabins and up to ten crew members in five crew cabins. Rochade is classed to Lloyd's Register and compliant to the MCA.
On the technical side, Rochade uses twin MTU V16 4000 diesel engines. 22 knots is the expected top speed with a cruising speed of 18 knots. At 12 knots, a healthy range of 2,700 nautical miles is expected, drawing from 53,000 LT tanks. This new Delta is up for sale through a reputable broker.

37-meter Project 'Maxima' by Tecnomar
A 37-meter new build by Tecnomar is currently in the works. Project 'Maxima' boasts a range in the region of 3,000 nautical miles when travelling at 12 knots. She will employ a pair of MAN 2862LE463 engines to power her through the water.
The new build by Tecnomar is expected to host up to ten guests in five comfortable cabins. Project Maxima is to be built to RINA class and is also expected to be MCA compliant. Delivery of this yacht from Tecnomar can be made about 20 months after contract signing.
